(Edit--Latest News: The body of New England Patriots player Marquise Hill is found after a jetski accident in Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana officials tell CNN).

The woman Marquise Hill was with on a jet ski before he was lost in Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana says Hill saved her life.

A strong current reportedly knocked the two off their watercrafts and the 24-year-old Hill helped the woman get to a buoy before drifting away. Neither was wearing a life preserver. Hill's family and friends continue to hold out hope that he'll be found.

WWL in New Orleans reports a Coast Guard search has been issued for Patriots DE Marquise Hill on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

The Coast Guard sent out a boat and helicopter to look for Hill, who is believed to have fallen off his jet ski Sunday night along with a female companion. "A good Samaritan on the bank heard yells for help," a Coast Guard officer says. "They found a woman clinging onto a piling near the shore." Hill is said to have disappeared into the darkness at around 9PM.

Extremely sad, but it wasn't very smart to be out on a jet ski after sundown (without a life vest).

Authorities have turned their search from rescue to recovery for former LSU football standout Marquise Hill, now a defensive end for the New England Patriots, who went missing Sunday night after falling off a jet ski in Lake Pontchartrain.

Lt. Steve McManus of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said officials decided to focus on recovering Hill's body after witnesses saw him go under the water without resurfacing. Authorities are trying to determine with the help of family members Hill's exact location at the time he and a woman fell from the craft, McManus said.

Petty Officer Tom Atkeson said the Coast Guard has crews in a helicopter and boat searching the lake near the Industrial Canal. Wildlife and Fisheries also is participating in the effort with another boat.

A man and woman were reported falling into the water from a recreational craft about 9 p.m. Sunday. They apparently were heading to the Seabrook boat launch. The Orleans Levee Board Police said that a passing boat had briefly picked up the man, but he jumped back in the water to look for the woman.

The woman was rescued after a passerby heard someone calling for help. The woman had apparently grabbed onto a piling or other structure in the lake.

Atkeson said the search for Hill will continue at least as long as daylight hours today.

Hill, a New Orleans native who graduated from De La Salle High School, has played in the NFL since 2004 and was a member of LSU's national championship-winning 2003 Tigers.

Man, that is a huge lake too! Crossing that bridge takes about 15 minutes! The water looks calm, but there are lots of currents in there!

Wow, that is sad...

That's too young to die, and it sounds like he probably did.

I think thats what everyone is wondering. Kinda silly IMO, even if you dont want a big life vest they make those little suspender looking things you can pull a tab on to inflate that would help as well. From my experiences on that lake during memorial day weekend Im guessing alchohol may be found to have been a factor

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to speculate on why he and his companion were not wearing life vests. It wasn't smart to not wear one, but aAt 24, we all thought things wouldn't happen to us. We all thought we were invincible.

Takes longer than that or you are going to get a ticket because its crawling with cops, but yeah 24 miles long over water, worlds longest bridge.

Yeah, I have crossed that lake many times, and you are right, it does take about 1/2 hour...it's kind of wierd too! The side concrete railings are not that high. I wonder how many cars have went off over those railings? Have you heard about any cars going overboard?

frankly, it SHOULD be remarked on not wearing a life vest. Just like not wearing seat belts. Just plain STUPID.

Very sad indeed.

i don't get why they weren't wearing a life preserver either!!

He did save a woman's life at the risk of his own though, and for that i applaud him.

I think I read or was told about that, cars going overboard. But man, that Lake is not a lake. Its almost like a sea. Heck I felt like wearing Life jackets just driving over the bridge, so there should be no reason to not wear one when going on Jetski unless someone forced you by gun point.

It's creepy going over that lake! Especially when you are at the middle and cannot see either side of land!

Well, he grew up there, and I'm guessing this is not the first time he's been on that lake on his jetski. However, water safety, man...!

I'm not sure you would even catch me on that lake with a lifevest...something just creeps me out with that lake.

Also, didn't one of the levees on the New Orlean side break during the hurrican, letting all that water come down into the city?

I hope he some how survives.
