Sharrif Floyd has found his NFL career in serious jeopardy.
According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today, the Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle is suffering from nerve damage as a result of surgery on his knee, putting his career at risk. Floyd spent the vast majority of the 2016 season out of the lineup before ultimately being placed on Injured Reserve.
What was once a routine operation on his meniscus has taken a much more serious turn, with Pelissero reporting that the nerve controlling the quadricep became damaged following the procedure. Citing anonymous sources, Pelissero states that the muscle has failed to respond nearly six months on from the initial operation.
The timing of the news sheds new light on an Instagram post made earlier in the week, where Floyd made a desperate plea to be healed and make a return to football.
