Obviously w/o knowing what's been discussed and/or agreed upon between Romo and the Jones', IMO I say hold on to him for the time being. Not sure the rush to cut him as I understand a lot of his cap saving wouldn't be realized until June 1 anyways. Further, there are also other ways to free up cap space from some restructures or parting ways with other, non-essential players.

There are many options for Romo and I don't necessarily see cutting him as an imminent must. There are sure to be many suitors for a top tier QB as the offseason progresses. Or we could have the best back-up QB ever, have a QB competition, have one of the best around to continue to mentor, etc etc.

Report: Texans won’t trade for Tony Romo
Posted by Darin Gantt on March 10, 2017, 8:39 AM EST

There’s currently a game of Texas Hold ‘Em going on with quarterback Tony Romo.

While the Cowboys are sitting on their quarterback in hopes of ginning up a trade (even after he’s said his goodbye to Dallas fans), the team considered one of the likely suitors is sitting tight.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans won’t trade for Romo, but would be interested in him in free agency if/when Dallas cuts him.

Hold him Jerry.

Make that crud organization, that was dumb enough to pay Brock O what they did, wait. Make them sweat. You don't need the cap space right now anyway.

Let the Texans sit there looking at their roster and realize that their QB right now is Tom Savage.

And on top of that give Cleveland a 2nd round pick to take a player.

**** every qb needy team. **** them all. Put your foot down for once and hang onto romo as long as you could. You don't owe him anything anyways. This is still a business and no guarantee dak doesn't have a soph slump

These teams that think they at going to play hardball with Will McClay and Stephen will cave when they lose week #1. A couple of loses early in the season, especially due to QB play will have them reaching for what is available. The Cowboys have put the word out, Romo is available but he's not going to be given away.

I'd make a public statement.

"Teams are obviously comfortable with their QB situation, as we are with Tony and Dak. As it pertains to Tony, we will keep him on our roster unless an offer is made we can't refuse. He's too good of a player, too good of a person, and too good of a leader to be charitable to other teams"

Then keep him. We don't need to give something to septic turds like Houston. They are just vultures hanging out in a tree waiting for something free because they don't have the nuts to attack and pursue.

Just come out and say you're rethinking keeping Romo and may have a meeting with him and Dak to find a way to keep them both this year. Then make another move to free up cap space that you were going to make anyway to give the illusion that it was done to make it easier to keep Romo. Sit back and wait.

I think Houston has the QB they want in Savage and are just looking for depth. We shall see.

if they want to roll with Tom Savage, good luck to them. they won't be able to outbid Cleveland for Garoppolo. NE might not deal him anyway.

Oh, tell Houston to just sit on it as they did back in the days of Earl Campbell and Bum Phillips...and why they really aren't a serious contender without Tony Romo. They now have an extra 2nd round pick...get serious, or sit on it.

I think that if the trade market dries up today, Jerry releases Romo. I don't think he'll let it drag on, even though I think he should keep Romo and see what happens in the market.

Panick in the NFL can also set in...
