It's amazing how we used to go so hard back and forth about both of these guys and they're both out of football. Neither basically has amounted to much at all.

That is all.

two first round picks that year and nothing to show for it now….
I'd actually say that Mike Jenkins would've been tied for third on our team with INTs and behind only one other DB.

however, your statement could be said about a ton of our draft picks, esp our fourth rounders and anyone from our 2009 draft.

I wish we still had Jenkins.

I don't know exactly what happened to Felix. I guess he just got too fat, because he was electric as a rookie.

Mike Jenkins had a decent season last year with 65 tackles, 6 passes defensed and 2 INTs. He only got a 1-year, 1.5M contract from the Bucs. He missed most of the preseason with a hamstring injury.

Talent was never his issue. I was all attitude.

IMO, Mike Jenkins and Felix were on a long list of players ruined by Wade Phillips. The sense of entitlement during the Wade years was out of control. Ratliff was the leader of the Entitlement Bunch, but it affected many players.

Not so sure that Felix doesn't fall on Garrett. Felix should have been a 3rd down and change of pace back that could do returns. They used him that way his rookie year, but often forgot to use him in games. Then they tried to bulk him up to make him a starter who didn't do returns. Brilliant.

He went from being bulked up to just fat. I realize that his final years were with Garrett as the HC, but I think most of the players that were here in the Wade era were not salvageable in terms of football mentality. They primary remaining guys are Romo and Witten who were Garrett guys from the beginning of Garrett's time here.

There were a few that made it out of the Ware era like Scandrick, but most developed that bad attitude with Ratliff being the top example of the bad attitude.

Ahmad Dixon would never have been cut if Wade was the HC. Wade probably wouldn't even tell the front office about any screw-ups by players.

I've been to training camp under both Wade and Garrett (Jimmy also). It was a night a day difference in the team attitude. The players were very lackadaisical in the Wade training camps. Seeing guys like Roy Williams and Martellus loafing around was pathetic. Practices under Garrett were organized and players appeared focused.

Most people blame Garrett, injuries or drafting for the past few years of futility, but IMO, the biggest problem was that they had to eventually eliminate the majority of the players that were here in the Wade era because once players get the entitled attitude, it's almost impossible to reverse it while they're still on that team. Having to eliminate all of those players resulted in a slow rebuilding process because due to salary issues, they couldn't all be jettisoned immediately.

I would be surprised if anybody that attended training camps under both Wade and Garrett didn't agree with me.

Garrett has had time to rebuild the team. He should be making his superbowl push this year. Now it is time to rebuild the defense again.

This is really the first time that the roster has really been stripped down to a point to start building it back up.

This year the Cowboys are the 4th youngest roster in the NFL.

Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

He has rebuilt the team. Between bad contracts and injuries (both not his fault) the defense isn't what it should be yet.

Rebuild the defense? While we still need some pieces these guys are mostly young and can develop more. Rebuilding doesn't happen overnight. Let's break this down. .......

Safeties. Church, Wilcox, Hamilton, Heath
Young guys that still can get better, Church being the older one of the bunch but the other three have 1 year experience and going on year 2....... wow let's give up on them

LBs. Carter, Durant, Lee, Hitchens, McClain, Wilber, (Holloman)
Could use some more youth here. Holloman was a decent prospect but had terrible injury and is done, Hitchens is a rookie but could develop into good rotation guy, Carter, Durant and McClain have showed to be able to play in this league..... not Pat Willis good but solid. Lee when healthy is a beast. ... healthy the key word. Wilber made some plays at LB last year. I see the team upgrading here some in the draft but still young group.

DL. Melton, McClain, Lawrence, Coleman, Selvie, Bishop, Gardner, Hayden, Mincey, Spencer
Some young guys here as well. Need DE drafted next year still but decent start. Bishop, Coleman, Gardner, Lawrence are rookies and could be the starting DL in a few years. Needs developing though. The vets need to stay healthy but they are also young, Spencer being the only one over 30.

CBs. Carr, Claiborne, Scandrick, Moore, Patmon.
Claiborne gets tore down here but the guy has only played 2 years, still young and get better. Carr and Scandrick are decent age and have played some good ball in the league. Patmon is a rookie, still needs developing but good start. Moore is a vet that plays decent especially number 4.

Believe it or not this defense is young and will only get better. We have rebuilt...... needs some more talent DL and LB. We keep making great picks like 3 OL in first round in 4 years but on DL and LB this defense will be tough. I expect we make mistakes this year but we will make plays. Young with speed. I'm feeling good
