Robert Griffin III took so many hits early in Washington's second preseason game that it almost felt inevitable he would leave because of injury. Sadly, that's just what happened.
Griffin left Thursday's 21-17 win over the Detroit Lions early in the second quarter after suffering a concussion and a shoulder stinger. Coach Jay Gruden confirmed the concussion after the game, saying the quarterback would undergo concussion protocol. Gruden said that Griffin's shoulder was "OK" and indicated he would not lose his starting job.

RGIII took repeated nasty shots early in the game that were not his fault; Washington's offensive line struggled badly. On the play he was injured, Griffin fumbled the ball without being touched. When he jumped on the ball, multiple Lions players pounced on him, and he didn't get up until more than three minutes later.
"I would imagine, depending on how long (Griffin's) out, he's still going to be our starter," Gruden said after the game. "But we have to wait and go through the whole process and see how he recovers

Griffin dropped back eight times and got nailed on six of them.

Wow, that offensive line is shaky.

I sorta feel bad. Did the oline pull an ole?
That would be wrong.

Yeah I pick on him. But I'm serious.

Meantime Colt and Cousin are telling the coach, you want me to do what? How about you take the snap from center coach and come tell us how it is. lol

Actually they (NFL Network) were pointing out how Cousins and McCoy had such success compared to RG3. Could their be an OL conspiracy against their starter or does Cousins and McCoy have a better pocket presence?
RG3 looked like he was lost with that rush and he looked like he'd rather be anywhere else on the bench. Time will tell but I think this is the beginning of the end for RG3 as a starter at QB in the NFL.

This is Gruden's one and only shot as a head coach.

He probably ordered the Code Red.

I can't believe we don't play the Skins until December. That is a lot of waiting to pad our sack totals.

He really needs to just call it a day.

I love that this read-option crap is falling on its face in the NFL.

Now if it could just do the same in college, I might watch more games on Saturday. I can't stand that grade school crap.

After we re-watching RGIII's last play, which it was evident that he wasn't hit on the head on the play, watching him walking off the field unlike most players who are woozy from a concussion, and the fact that the FO is saying RGIII is fine and his timetable to return is 'right now'....it appears that RGIII was faking his injury. It may have been to save face from his horrible performance, i.e. inability to move around the pocket, feel pressure, read a defense, make his progressions quick enough, etc. Maybe it was him wanting to cause a distraction from the inevitable media focus on his performance vs. his statements that in his mind that he is the best QB in the NFL. Maybe, it was because he didn't want to go back out on the field again. Whether it is any one of those reasons, or if it is all of them, what it speaks to is RGII's lack of leadership and inability to handle the pressures of being an NFL QB. IMO, last night was the beginning of RGIII's swan song with skins and possibly the end of his career as a starting NFL QB. I think he is damaged goods and will not be able to recover his career...he no longer has the athletic advantage he once had, he lacks the basic skills of an average NFL QB, and IMO he is mentally fragile. I strongly believe that RGIII will over take Tony Mandraich as the biggest draft bust in the history of the NFL.

After all of that pure speculation, you don't have a single thing to say about whether it was even possible for him to play well with the performance of his OL.

Jumongus now has the honor of being the biggest draft bust and has for some time. You are sadly out of date.

Certainly possible that RG3 was looking for a way out.

I love the fact that you so ardently stick up for RGIII. ....it makes his impending failure so, much more enjoyable. And to answer your question, the OL may not have given him the opportunity to play well, but as was proven last night and over the past two years, RGIII has a way of making an OL look worse than it is.

So you follow up pure speculation with a vague half-admission that the OL gave him no chance to perform well. I'm already on record for saying this is likely his last season as a Commander and probably his last chance to be a starting QB. I'm not sticking up for him, I just have this pesky habit of dealing with facts and not BS. People saying Cousins has looked better in preseason seem to conveniently leave out the fact he is doing so against backups and soon-to-be FAs. Unlike you, I can be objective. I'm being objective by saying I hope he performs well. But the reality is he's learning how to be a pocket passer when he often times doesn't have a pocket. Not a recipe for success. He is out of chances, so this won't work out and he will be released when the season is over. Hopefully, Gruden will be following him right out the door as well. I want Scot to hire a new HC, and draft a new QB with that top 10 pick we're going to have, and build from there. That doesn't change the fact that time Brady would've looked like trash behind that OL last night. So why is Griffin getting blamed more than the collective unit that failed to do their job?

First of all, your holier than though "I only talk to facts" BS is full of crap...my "speculation" goes beyond last night's game. It is an accumulation of poor performances over the past two years culminating with last night's game.
