The Raiders are a very good football team. 13-10 at the half against a top-tier team in the AFC, in a vanilla offensive situation and with many backups playing defense (the Garrett way -- throw the 2nd string D out there against the 1st team O) is a pretty decent result.

The key will be the defensive line. I think we'll stop the run just fine, but affecting the QB is going to be the rub - can we consistently generate enough pressure to fold the pocket and make opposing quarterbacks 1) uncomfortable; 2) throw the ball before they want to (like, out of bounds for example or into a defender's waiting arms); or, 3) lay down.

That's it. If we can throw off the other team's timing and rhythm, we'll have a chance in every game we play - a good chance, with our offense showing up. If not, we'll probably notch double digit wins, but the playoffs will be difficult against QBs who are physically capable of completing 100% of their passes if there is hypothetically no pressure.
Great stuff Cas07 ! but when Marinelli sends his banzai pass-rush Blitz it should prove effective early on I'm thinking,
To be honest, I had never heard of him (or at least don't recall it) prior to Zeke acquiring his services. At that time, I did a little Wikipedia research for the benefit of this post, but ultimately deleted that part (a good portion of which I think I PM'd you) and learned he's been involved in quite a few high profile sports cases and has been very successful. The general consensus of what I have read, Zeke couldn't have hired a better lawyer for this particular cause.

Here's a little more on Kessley from Wikipedia (read more at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_L._Kessler)

Additionally, Kessler became known as one of the most prominent sports lawyer in the USA as he became regularly engaged in high-profile sports litigation.[7] He litigated some all known sports-antitrust cases while at Weil, including McNeil v. the NFL, the antitrust jury trial which led to the establishment of free agency in the National Football League (NFL).[8] He also handled numerous sports law cases for clients including the National Football League Players Association, the National Basketball Players Association, the Arena Football League Players Association, the National Hockey League Players Association, the Major League Baseball Players Association, the NFL Coaches Association, Players, Inc., the Women's Tennis Benefit Association and Adidas. Kessler represented various classes of NBA, NFL, AFL and MLS players, and several professional leagues, the now defunct North American Soccer League and United States Football League, as well as the Cities of San Diego and Oakland, and Alameda County, in various sports law disputes.[9] He also successfully represented Latrell Sprewell in his controversial suspension arbitration.

jday makes my posts look like blurbs.

The crazy thing is, I had to delete about 3 pages of content to fit the op below the 20,000 character limit...and as you can imagine, it still barely fit. I even had to go back and use only the first or last name of players to make it work.

Thanks for reading!

I don't believe this team is capable of going "the other way" due to the way it has been built. I think they are that good and we are all just going to have to get used to it. Tough, I know, but if I had to do it for 20 years starting as a kid in 1969 and persevered. Therefore, I'm pretty sure I can handle it now.

This team became more stable each season over the past four seasons. We didn't see that in the standings, sometimes, due to circumstances beyond anyone's control. However, This team has many good leaders that have developed. They have close knit squads that demand the best from each other, and of themselves. They have become more familiar with each other. As a result, they are operating under close to maximum efficiency. Even the backups, when called upon, have contributed.

In just a few years, the Cowboys have built an elite offensive line, one capable as going down in history as the best ever. There is enough talent on that squad for an All-Pro to go down (fingered crossed, football gods forbid) and they would still be elite. I believe that.

In one season the Cowboys built an elite offensive backfield with ex-Pro Bowlers-thousand yard rushers for backups. their backup quarterback might be a preseason rookie phenom, or not, the Cowboys also get a "get out of jail" free wildcard in a certain member of the CBS broadcast booth.

The receivers are so deep the Cowboys could keep 6 and we would still lament the release of others. Dez looks great, Dak has all his familiar receivers back plus he gets extra guys

I don't think Bailey is just going to forget how to kick field goals.

The defensive line will be more explosive and very deep. Jaylon is not an incremental increase in talent for the linebackers, he is a potential game changer. The defensive backfield will be challenged, however, they are very young overall, and you can expect them to get better and better every week.

Not even injuries to a few starters will derail this team.

I'm at the point where I'm no longer worried about what another team can do against the Cowboys. I'm wondering how they are going to handle our Cowboys.

It has to be a nightmare for defensive lines, no matter how good they are. Martin and Collins are just monster guards with the best center in football wedged in between. Right DE's spend their time on the sidelines trying to convince their coaches that rotating sides is a good idea.

When the Cowboys run the ball it's like a wall imploding from the inside out, the RB is already in the second level before he is touched. the "malevolence brothers", La' El and Zach are deliberately targeting DB's to hit, just for fun. I've seen it. You want to talk about "business decisions", those DB's see it and make a feeble attempt towards the runner, before hugging turf. I've seen it.

We might see 2-2 and, of course, there will be panic. However, this team is not a finished product even with the players they have. Each week this team will get better and better.

One more thing:

Dak Prescott is not a one year wonder and that is a stone cold lock!

Shoot, I like this guy too! Good poster with words of "wisdom". And he and I have had words, in the past.
Not serious words, but... uh... I lost track of my thoughts. Darnit!

If you were hoping for an argument from me, you, sir, are barking up the wrong tree. I wholeheartedly agreed with everything you said. Thanks for adding to the conversation sir!

The "plastic Man" has always been one of my all time favorite reads even when he dons his anti-Jerry cape and sallies forth on crusade, it's a mandatory obligatory ' like',,and I reckon that's a character defect on my endo_O

Yep. Worth a pro's insight!!
Let's not go too far... I guess you could say getting paid for your work makes you a pro, but I think it takes more.
I can only hope to do something that could further his memory in a respectful and entertaining manner that people will want to watch and feel in their hearts like he did.
Not hard at all... I've done this a millions times!

Actually I have never done a story like this ever before. But don't make that public!

If James J Braddocks story sold...Imagine what Franklins tale could do in the right hands?!
All it takes is a caring hand with lots of thought and consideration and, darnit, talent.
And then it takes a producer(s) that wants to spend real money on it as an investment.
That's all.

I've seen worse odds...
