So I am stuck in Houston (Kingwood  ) and I am forced to watch the Texans/Raiders game.

They keep advertising the "HUGE rivalry game" next week with the Cowboys. "As long as they wear that uniform." What the hell? Rivalry game? I know that for a franchise that lives in the shadow of the star, playing Dallas is a big deal. But I can't say that I care about playing the texans or arguing with their fans who refuse to accept that Cowboy fans just don't care about their new team. I guess this shows that if everyone considers you a rival and a big game then dallas still must be America's team, sorry to ESPN for ruining their party.

These commercials just keep getting better and better... back to the beer.

That's funny. The Texans are a rivalry no more than any other team in the NFL.

I'm sure the two team owners planned this from the beginning. Unfortunately, rivals usually play each other every year, so it is doubtful they will ever become a true rival even if they win a Super Bowl because who wins and losses a pre-season game is irrelevant.

I'll be attending that game in Texas Stadium in a week. I'll be sure to bring my 'Carr has herpes' sign.

One of the worst defeats in team history, if not THE worst, was that humiliating defeat to them in 2002.

That was terrible.

And until we play them again in the real games, they do have our number.

Irrelevant? Not to Texan fans. Or to the team.

This is as good as a regular season game for that franchise.

If all the Texans play, it would be a very good test for our secondary.

Johnson, Bradford and Gaffney are a good trio of WRs

That was the only time I made it into Mick's mail. As the game was winding down I sent a scorching email to him about how unprepared the team was and what was Campo and his coaching staff doing during training camp. I will never forget how sick I felt all that week. The last time I was that sick, was The Catch. Dave Campo is a nice guy, but as far as a Head Coach, what my brother always says came true " The sun shines on a dogs rearend every once in awhile.....

Houston has a nice team....but even if they won the SB 3x in a row, they'll still be second fiddle in TX. Even TX isn't big enough for two pro teams.

Obviously you do care or you wouldn't have posted this. I remember the last "we don't care about the Texans" post had about 100 replies. Lol.

Were you in the chat room during last weeks preseason game that didn't mean anything to Cowboys fans? We must have a hell of a rivalry with Arizona.

NO state is big enough for two teams if one of them is the Cowboys.

Speaking of herpes...did anyone else notice the canker sores on Pennington’s mouth during his interview last night? What is this...an epidemic among QBs?

I still believe that the loss to the Texans in the 2002 opener was an NFL conspiracy. I think Jerry Jones has sold his soul to Tagliabue...and Tags is the one that really runs this franchise...or all franchises for that matter.

Think about it, the Texans boost their fan base in Houston by 20 fold by beating the "rival" Cowboys in their first game in franchise history. Tagliabue would have it no other way.

The other smoking gun is the Patriots SB victory in 2001...just post 911. The NFL, at least to some extent, seems rigged to me.

I don't care. I am just amazed at how they view the game. I have one Cowboys star sticker on the back of my car that I got with a season tix offer and you would not believe how I get treated. I either get friendly offerings from Cowboys fans or nearly run off the road by Texan fans.

They obsess about the Cowboys here for some strange reason.

I heard this call yesterday on a radio show here. "I am a huge Texan and former Oiler fan...How do you think the Cowboys will do this season. Will they make the playoffs?"

It is like being in a horrid town of stalkers.

I started the thread to get some other people's view on the "Rivalry" and I basically am tired of the same old threads on the main board.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Yes, there were 75+ people in the chat room that were excited to see, or hear, or read about the Cowboys first game of 2005. I don't think anyone really cared about who the game was against.

You are right about getting run off the road by Texan fans. I have a Cowboys helmet sticker in the middle of my LOUISIANA license plate (for which I should probably get a ticket for, but haven't so far in the 2 years it has been on my plate).

I go to Houston once in awhile, and the last time I went there, I was driving through rush hour traffic in the morning. I tried to change lanes on 59 south near Hillcroft due to an accident. Instead of people letting me in, they kept passing me up and flipping the bird at me.

One of them tailgated me all the way to Highway 6 from Hillcroft, and tried to run me off the road. I was in the far right hand lane.
