Fwiw, player ratings are...uh...overrated. But it's fun to check it out sometimes.
I'd love to see 4 years from now how many players on the top 250 would still be top 250. 50% or less I would assume.

So are you really saying Notre Dame will be left out of the P5 grouping. Please don't try to equate them to Boise or any other team out of the esPn5.

various:
ND is independent but their deal with the ACC gives them enough P5 games to qualify for the playoff and Bowl tie-ins via the ACC.
Still not sure why the ACC made that deal but perhaps it pays off in the future unlike the prior Big East deal with ND.

The top 250 is a fair indicator of where talent is going but it is also a bit misleading because of number of teams being so variant.
You rather need to average the number per team to get a meaningful stat.

And of course each recruiting service has a different top 250.

Going forward Notre Dame will probably have to join a conference, i suspect they will not see the college playoff until they do.

If they continue to get a large cut, included in the p5, get good recruits, their own tv contract, and conference affiliation with the ACC... why so? Just curious on your opinion.

the acc deal says they don't have to.
nd has one of the 5 toughest schedule sin football this year.
that's 50 places above alabama.

if they get the best of the ACC opponents, plus a handful of ranked opponents elsewhere the comp isn't any issue and they make more money than any ACC team.
imho the ACC was stupid to sign that deal but we will see.

I think there will be political sway against independents by the committee, they want the playing field to be an uniform as possible, which conferences at least provide the surface appearance of, also their shellacking just two season ago in the National Title will be on committee lips if they make the top four without being a conference champion.

copy. but i think they play 6 acc opponents a year (?) along with other top teams outside of that portion of the schedule. So if they win out or lose only 1 game or so, they will probably have earned a playoff spot. But I guess we'll see. They are fortunate they are Notre Dame, different than BYU, Notre Dame is part of the Power 5 contracts and negotiations, BYU and other independents aren't.

Yep, every power 5 team has a built in advantage over those who aren't, even Vanderbilt and Iowa State or Kansas are in a better position than BYU or UCF, or Boise State.
