CNN)This year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees include some familiar faces and one star who has just returned to the scene.
Janet Jackson, N.W.A, Nine Inch Nails, Chicago, the Smiths, and Cheap Trick are just a few of the acts vying to enter the Class of 2016. They are joined by Chic, Deep Purple, Chaka Khan, Yes, The J.B.'s, Los Lobos, Steve Miller, The Spinners and The Cars.
A few of the performers have been nominated before, including the group Chic, which has now been tapped 10 times without yet having been inducted.

Shimmy sham... Shimmy sham!!

Hall and Oates... Tidbit from their acceptance speech

“And speaking of Philadelphia, you know, I did some research, and did you know that we’re the only homegrown Philadelphia band that’s been put in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Now, I’m not saying that because I’m proud of it — I’m saying that because it’s ****ed up. What happened to Todd Rundgren? The Stylistics? The Delfonics? Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes? Len Barry? Chubby Checker? How about the biggest single in the history of the world? Chubby Checker. Why isn’t he in? You guys tell me. I’m calling everybody out. That’s all I got to say. I wanna go play.”

The list just keeps on getting worse year after year.....
The Smiths? Really lol........must be a critics favorite to give a crud band like this a nomination.
NiN......Jeesh cmon......half of their "songs" sound like they were composed in a garbage can and sung by Oscar the grouch.
Janet Jackson really? Whos next after her, Pebbles? Jodi Watley?
The JB's .....who?
Chaka Khan lol cmon...................

At this point they need to bulldoze the joint and start over.........

How are The Cars not in the RRHoF already? And Deep Purple, even if it's just for one song.

And why in the world would anybody even consider Janet Jackson seriously?

I don't understand the N.W.A. or NIN nominations. I like hip-hop/rap but never would expect N.W.A. to get nominated.

Can't stand NIN, don't like it.

Burn, Hush, Highway Star, Smoke On The Water, Lazy, Strange Kind Of Woman...you gotta give DP credit for more than 1 song. Agree on the Cars and would throw Chicago on that list though I don't really like their music. The guys have been around since the late 60's and have made like 30 albums. I've never personally met a Janet Jackson fan.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply DP only had one hit. Just that Smoke is reason enough for them to be in the Hall.

Could be one of the worst posts I've read in a while. Wow you absolutely have no clue. The Smiths a crud band? Wow no. Janet Jackson I say is quite a bit better and more influential than Pebbles and Jodi Watley . She's got more hits, records/albums sold, and awards won than probably every person on this year's list combined.
Being that you've never heard of the JB's tells me all I need to know about how much music you don't know, Chaka Khan was very good as a solo artist and with Rufus, oh you probably don't know who that is either. Do us all a favor and stop commenting about music because you don't know **** about it.

Many of those guys aren't even Rock 'n Roll.

Just shut that place down.

How is this different than any other year since the 1st inductees? It's not. I don't think it's really about Rock N Roll as a genre. Rock N Roll is such a broad term. They need to rename it to the Music hall of fame or something like that. I feel like they wanted to use Rock N Roll as a cool name for it even though it's intention obviously is not to just induct rock n roll artists exclusively. They've been inducting artists from many different genres of music since it's inception.

I'd drive the bulldozer if they'd let me but if not I'd vote for Chicago and Deep Purple from that list. The Cars have the stats but not enough rings to get in.

The rest of them... lol
