Rod Marinelli expected to join Raiders staff

Lol improved our defense dramatically.

We were historically bad in '13
Went into '14 with Lee getting injured in offseason and cutting Ware many thought we would be even worse than historically bad, but instead he turned our defense with marginal talent into an average defense. Then he went and improved it even further in '15 and '16.

You thinking he's terrible shows just how little you know about football

 

Duncan now doubling down, not knowing that

1. The defense was very good against the Seahawks in 2018
2. Richard was playing the calls in 2018 playoffs

Take my advice y'all, don't take anything duncan says at face value. It's most likely very wrong.

WE are. Have you guys not seen or heard MM speak on that? OR HAVE YOU ALL NOT watched the many shows on TV and team reporters that say that with the hiring of Mike Nolan, a change seems likely to a 3-4? I aint saying anything is in stone...in fact, I think we will run a hybrid defensive system year 1 under MM. But until MM comes out and emphatically states we are NOT switching to a 3-4, I am sticking to it.

 

NFL loves hiring useless re-treads. Imagine watching Dallas the last years and wanting this guy. Whose defense could not make plays to save their lives. Get ready for a DL to be out of position constantly because he loves to stunt every single play.

 

What?? He's a terrible defensive coach. His schemes were garbage and he never once adjusted. Ever. It's pretty bad when Sam Darnold off mono looked like an all pro against his defense. Or how about Trubisky? 2 terrible losses.

There is not one thing he does well on defense. No idea what the Raiders are doing.

 

trubes couldn't hit the broadside of a barn until he faced our D. Then he was Johnny Unitas. That's how GAWD AWFUL WE WERE. I'm not hearing any accountability from the team captains on D. Woods was admitting to poor tackling, but fell short of saying they didn't play well all year. Too many Garrett choir boys on D will get us beat again. We need thugs on D that have swag and cred. We need more players like Michael Bennett. Vocal and not afraid to tell it the way it is. WE NEED THAT BADLY. I think that's why we have MM and Nike Nolan.

in 14 the defense was ok because we had an 1800 yard rusher and the defense was never on the field.

 

2013- 30th defensive DVOA
2014- 20th DVOA without Lee or Ware

DVOA is effieciency. The defense was still bad but just kept on the sidelines. Marinelli sucks glad hes gone. Richard too

 

Being kept on the sideline doesn't help efficiency.... you know this.
