Beno Cook on ESPN was talking about the greates games in college history and the conversation went into the greates players and where Vince Young ranks and Cook said Young had a great year definately top 25 of all time but
Roger Staubach had the greates season EVER for a college QB.....

The host also mentioned that Roger was also mentioned last night by another analaysist as being the best college QB ever.....

Lee Corso brought it up and now think Vince Young has surpassed Staubach at the college level.

I saw that last night too. Corso is forgetting that Roger made his accomplishments surrounded by a Service Academy team not one w/ a top 10 recruiting program...

Service Academy teams were once some of the top teams in college football.

People forget that because as the game started becoming high paying people started avoiding that 5 year hitch. At one time a military career was more attractive than a football career. It is still difficult to get into the service academy colleges. You basically have to be accepted as a Junior in High School and your scores have to be high. I was recruited hard by Navy. The dumbest thing I ever did was decide to turn them down.

I have followed Vince Young since he came out of high school with the tag "Vince the great" and he has really been great the last 2 years. This year he was special but him taking the team on his back and winning has been like that for the last 2 years. Not a one year wonder.

The improvement was in his passing and he has proved he is a good passing QB and I think he will be something special in the NFL! He will stay in trying to make the pass as long as he can and then take off when he has to and only then.

He has great instincts and presence in the pocket.

I don't know your situation, but it may not have been as dumb as you think. I had two friends go to the Naval Academy and they said it was the most miserable times of their lives. I did have a friend that went to West Point and enjoyed it. But he was about the most gung ho, tough, and smartest person you'll ever meet.

All of them now have superb careers though, but if you're smart enough to get in the military academies, you should be able to be successful in life going to a regular university.

Roger never played for Parcells so he must have sucked.

Let me clarify a little bit Rich. As someone who has hired people I know the impact that Military experience can have on a resume'. I paid military guys more than non military guys. I guarantee you I'm not alone in that. Empoyers respect honor. I don't have that on my resume'. That is why I say it was a dumb mistake.

I believe you can enjoy or hate any campus. I don't believe you can discount the impact on a resume', the free education, the chance to travel the world with the right assignment, GI Bill opportunities, VA Loan opportunities, and the overall respect given to honorably discharged Vets.

It is the one thing if I could go backwards in time that I would change.

Just type in HONOR in large print on your resume'. Or do the dishonorable thing and lie and say you did attend a military academy. :D

Roger Staubach could play football in any era, he was that good. He is the reason I started following the Cowboys. My Grandfather served in the Navy in WWII and he thought Roger walked on water. I still remember seeing his face light up when he took me to Anapolis to see Staubach's college jersey....:)

Interestingly enough, Roger Staubach won the Heisman in 63 as a Junior. The next year, John Huarte won it from Notre Dame. A shame really as Roger had better numbers but Huarte was playing for a 9-1 Notre Dame team.

Didn't USC tie ND for most Heisman Trophy winners this year? Any odds on someone, ANYONE from ND winning next year?

Brady Quinn has a decent shot. Back in the 60's, it was thought that one Heisman for anyone was enough. Onlly Archie Griffin got two, and that was just so totally out of line- he was not even the best RB in football those two years, but he got it anyway.

Lee Corso is one of my favorite annoucers and he was the only member of the Gameday Crew that picked Texas to win. He was the only one hyping the Boys from the Lone Star State up and giving them not only a shot, but a GREAT shot.

Corso picked Texas right after the OSU game. Stuck with them all year. Kinda weavered just a little bit when Bush ran for 5000 yards against Fresno St. but eventually came back to his original position in the last two weeks leading up to the game.

Yes sir!!!

Ismail and Herbstreit both said Texas was going to lose, which you really cannot blame them.

Corso just makes things fun imo, I like his personality.
