I agree with you 100% on McClain. How much more do you need to see in regards to Gregory? I wouldn't say he's an unknown commodity by a long stretch.

The guy failed drug tests in college, then at the combine, now 4 in the NFL (maybe 5 if the rumors are true).

Granted-- everyone wants to see more reasonable regs from the NFL in terms of pot-- but it's not like Randy has done anything but squander his opportunities to this point.

To a degree... but he also acted like a knucklehead in terms if how he postured himself on social media and treated his coaches.

It was just a failed experiment-- and we were wise to cut bait after a year.

Gregory is more complicated simply b/c of the investment of the 2nd round pick (and indirectly now-- a 1st rounder in Taco. JJ will give him every opportunity b/c he wants his ROI for that second rounder.

Of course. Gregory has himself to blame for his circumstances. No question. I was speaking about what he may have delivered on the field. It seems certain we will never know. Thats the shame. There should be adults running the league.

Some players, like Hardy, need real leadership. This boy had talent. Jimmy Johnson or Ole Tom would have found a way to manage him to their and the clubs benefit. The Cowboys have a weak HC that failed to use Hardy's skills to the clubs advantage. Johnson managed far more difficult players (Haley) Landry had many...Harvey Martin to name one...they got the most out them. To me, Garrett lost a decent asset.

I don't think Garrett ever wanted him here honestly-- and that is a large part of the problem. JJ continually adds talented but troubled players that his HC doesn't want here-- and that's doomed to fail. TO was another one. BP wanted no part of the sideshow, but his owner/GM sees it otherwise and makes a determination.

I am not a Garrett apologist by any stretch. I would feel a lot better if JJ let his HC own these decisions though. In general, people perform better when they are given ownership in a vision or decision. I think too many times coaches are dictated to and undermined in Dallas. Johnson was a strong personality and pushed back and was fired.

BP was a strong personality-- but was too tired and walked away lol. Could someone strong have worked with Hardy? Sure. But IMO-- the writing was on the wall when we signed him and the decision has a small chance of ever working here.

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. That's what happened in both cases. Jerry has always undermined the coaching staff. I mean what other HC in the NFL doesn't pick his own coordinators. It makes no sense. Personally, l couldn't stomach Owens and knew that in the long run it won't work. I see the game from the defensive side of the ball and was excited when the club took a chance on Hardy. But, l realised it would be a tough fit everything considered.
