We don't have much else at that position to replace him. Especially reliable.

I think Hitchens or Brinkley can get the job done. Not as flashy, but they'll be available.

I'm starting to think that deep down the guy doesn't really want to play.

How is it that you think these reactions are knee jerk? This guy has proven over and over and over that he cannot be trusted to make the right decisions. It's not like this came out of left field and all of a sudden people are calling for his head. A four game suspension already means he's been caught by the NFL a few times already.

Have you been reading this thread? People are calling for him to be cut.

Is this enough of an issue for the team to release him and move on?

What do his defenders have to say about this?

Why defenders? Can't they just be pleased to have the talent? We all knew he could walk away at any time or whatever. No surprise here.

The question is who starts while he is suspended? My guess is Hitchens and Brinkley will get the snaps depending on who plays SAM.

I think they can too but what if 1 or both gets injured from now and the start of the season. We don't have Durant or Carter anymore to lean on. That's why you can't just let Rolando go. Maybe after the season but right now we are so thin, fragile and inexperience at that position.

I do think he wants to play or else he wouldn't have come back and wouldn't have entertained talking to the Pats. He just is not responsible or reliable. Some people are like that and he is one of those people.

Holy missing the boat Batman! I think you need to read the thread to figure out the context of my post which was not that complicated to begin with.

He was already facing a 4 game fine. So this means he failed ANOTHER test since that was announced.

I guess since he was already playing for free he midas whale rest his body too.

How many until he's Josh Gordon status and missing seasons? I don't think you even get fined until its like 2 or 3.

He'll be here this season, but he's gone next. If the team can't rely on you, it doesn't matter how talented you are if you aren't playing.

If he fails the next one, his future in the NFL is in serious jeopardy. Such a shame.

Dallas was always going to play a lot of LB's this year anyway. McClain is just one of several that will see time there.

Hitch will be very good there and Brinkley will provide some the the physical nature that McClain brings. The team will be fine until Ro returns. Then, he'll come in fresh and knock some heads.

Pretty much what I've been expecting anyway... even without a suspension.

Does anyone know how they do these tests? Do they call you at home and say come take a test? Anyone know when he flunked it?

I defend McClain more than anyone here, but let me be on the side to say, just get rid of him at this point.

Holy no I didn't miss the boat Robin. You said 'It's not like this came out of left field and all of a sudden people are calling for his head.' People in this thread are calling for him to be cut. I didn't miss your ridiculous post.

Surprise? No, Disappointment for sure. A player's most important ability is availability. And this guy doesn't have it. Nor does he even seem to want it.

The question is who starts while he is suspended? My guess is Hitchens and Brinkley will get the snaps depending on who plays SAM.

I've read that Brinkley looks better than advertised so my money is on him. I think Hitchens is a candidate for SLB and then the nickel when Brinkley comes off the field.

Who are these 'a lot of LBs' that are going to play?

Simple question then, why don't they ban alcohol? I doubt the "self control" argument would have the same merit;) Players would fail left and right and perception would be that is an UNJUST rule to begin with, etc.

I'm not comparing the two and I agree it's silly, but you missed my point entirely.

If it's plain and simply illegal in the league to do something..."fair" or not and regardless of what it is....don't freaking do it if you want play.

It's not rocket science.

But yes, it does seem silly.

You're quite probably right. I'm not advocating for the move, just wondering out loud if the Cowboys would do it.

Between the missed offseason time and not one, but two failed tests in the same offseason, I greatly question his commitment.

I'm trying to figure out how he flunked two? Was he thinking since he flunked one they weren't going to give him another one?

Some guys just can't get out of their own way. It's easy for us to be on the outside looking in and to just want the Cowboys to distance themselves from Ro and I don't knock those who think that. you have a legitimate point. But I think they're are a small group of troubled players in the NFL that warrant more time and patience. Ro has a lot of natural ability and a huge frame to play the MLB position. That along with his young age makes it worth while to hang in there with him. Unless of course, his heart is not in the game and drugs and partying is more of what he wants in life. IF that is the case then he is beyond repair and any help will be a waste of his time and the Cowboys organization. IF he wants to play but is struggling with drugs I wouldn't blame the Cowboys and especially Jerry Jones because he's stuck with troubled players in the past if they decided to put him on a special program to help get his head right. This kid obviously needs help.
