Except McClain has a history of quitting. You.can't rely on him long term. The sooner we can replace him and cut ties with him, the better.
I can get your mindset on this.
It's like a recovering dope addict.
They're hard to trust- especially if they've relapsed more than once.
If you care about the person you want them to get through their personal problems and succeed,
But it's hard. It's hard to trust someone like that and it affects so many things.
And when you are investing in that person, both monetarily and attention-wise in a major way (and I think the NFL is beyond Major), skepticism and wariness should always be at the forefront.
I hope he proves the naysayers wrong. I hope he completely revitalizes his career heart and soul and becomes a major contributor for this team for years.
But you definitely cannot count on that and always have to make decisions concerning a player like him as you would a troubled child.
Not a lot of teams want to go through with that.
Dallas is a desperate team on defense right now though.
Nobody can dispute that.
They have no choice but to help this troubled child and hope that they can mold him into what he's supposed to be.
So let's hope he succeeds. Let's hope he regains that love for the game and it never leaves again and he produces under the bright lights.
I said let's "hope". I never said expect.
And if he doesn't? They cut him (hopefully quickly and not drag things on) and I still wish him the best as a human being, but my team has moved on and I don't regret the move at all.
They lost extremely little in this process so there should be zero reason to hate anyone on this.
All of this said with the utmost respect, of course.
