Wonder if that spells the end of Jerod Mayo in New England should McClain sign there.

Free agent ILB Rolando McClain is visiting the Patriots on Monday.

McClain finally has someone to leverage against the Cowboys, who have been lowballing him since the beginning of free agency. McClain was an integral part of Big D's defense in 2014, but dealt with concussions. He's also facing a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Although McClain is surely pleased to have another team in the bidding, New England is not the kind of team that's going to break open the bank for a player with his question marks.

I am not sure this is accurate at all. I think it was confirmed that it's not a 4 game suspension but a 4 game check penalty. Or is this another example of Archer not doing a good job of passing on info?

This is the only other team besides The Cowboys that I could see him being at and keeping his head straight.

BB is going to bring in a player who is moody, unpredictable, has a pending case, is one strike away from NFL punishment, and has a questionable work ethic (Monday through Saturday) to come play for him for more than vet minimum with lots of incentives? Hardly.

He will go to whomever pays more. Thing is, I'm not certain that NE is the team that would pay a premium for the guy.

I don't think they mind if he goes somewhere else.

They want him at a price and if he goes elsewhere I think they are ok with it.

I don't have a problem with it one way or the other either.

I would rather have him here for a price but at the same time if he starts up with the lack of heart like he has in the past and appears to have in some of the games this past season...won't shed any tears if he goes.

Stranger things have happened. Pats signed Blount who got busted for pot before season started, then walked out on the Steelers after a Monday night game.

I think they are approaching it the exact same way as they did with Murray...except for lower dollars of course. And I'm good with that. I want McClain at a fair price based on what he has actually contributed, with incentives for him to reach and the ability to renegotiate in a few years if he really is successful. I'm not guaranteeing him a lot of money or years though.
