If you look back over the past 19 regular season games (going back to the final game of 2013) Romo has been knocked out and missed games 3 different times with 3 different injuries.
  • Week 15 - 2013 against Washington: Missed the final game of the season due to a back injury against Washington
  • Week 8 - 2014 against Arizona. Missed a game due to a different back injury in the Washington Game
  • Week 2 - 2015
  • Week 2 - 2015 against the Eagles. Missing an extended amount of time due to fractured collarbone.
I begin to wonder if father time is catching up to Romo in the durability department. He is 35 years old and at some point your body just doesn't stand up to injuries like it did when you were in your 20s.

Maybe some of this is bad luck, however, I think it's a cause for concern going forward. I do think they'll need to draft a QB somewhere in rounds 1-3 next year and start preparing for the day Romo is either retired or prepare for Romo being out for extended periods of time.

It's a shame, but yes, I think it's true. He's a tough SOB but he's no spring chicken anymore. That's why this team needs to find a way to stay in the hunt while he's out. His window to win it all isn't going to be open for many more years.

I think age and susceptibility to injury are related.

Dez broke his foot pretty much non-contact. Sean Lee broke his knee non-contact.

Injuries in your 20's and 30's arent so much age related. They arent 80 year old women with osteoperosis or something.

I think it's the recovery time and incomplete recovery that age factors into,,,

Hard not to feel the same way, though I don't imagine a younger clavicle would have withstood that same hit. Driving a QB's shoulder into the ground causes injury more often than not.

Yes, now that the Vaughan experiment failed, Dallas will need to draft a third QB next year to be the next one to groom. I can't see the team using a first-rounder on the position, but I do believe we could use as high as a second-round pick if a QB Jason likes is available.

its bad luck. father time is trying to scramble and your legs buckling.

being driven into the ground multiple times isnt father time...thats called a defense.

Yeah, but a lot of QB's are driven into the ground and come away unscathed.

I think we are actually lucky in the sense that he gets injured in places that should not adversely effect his future performance instead of getting things like knee injuries, right elbow/shoulder/hand injuries.

The fact is that we really need to find a future to replace him and it will likely require a 1st round pick. And I would rather spend that pick now, let them learn on the bench for a year, and then play. Especially when you look at the most recent QB's like Manziel, EJ Manuel, Ponder, etc. who flamed out hard by starting in their rookie year.

A broken collarbone could happen to anyone. It has nothing to do with age. It was just really unlucky.

My point wasn't the collarbone particularly, it is the fact that Romo has had 3 different injuries over the past 19 games, all of which have caused him to miss games. Maybe it's just bad luck, however, some if it may be that he is a 35 year old QB who isn't quite as able to absorb those kinds of blows as he was in his 20's.

Yeah. Romo has been playing his best ball the last couple of years. Injuries happen when you play football and his elusiveness and improvise has not really diminished as far as I have seen up to this point.

Romo will be alright. He has some time left. We just have to hold down the fort until he gets back.

He should've drank more milk when he was younger...........

That was a big dude and a pile drive WWF worthy.

I agree. Common sense tell us that no one would walk away unscathed from that one.

Romo is definitely made of glass...the number of major injuries that he's had in his career is not the norm for a starting QB and it takes a toll. He's 35 but with the durability of a 65 year old these days. The time is right to draft his successor and have him sit for 2 years. The new QB won't be thrown into the fire unless he has to fill in for a Romo injury.

I wouldn't say he is made of glass.

He is, however, getting into the part of NFL QB's careers where most of them start winding down due in no small part to injuries.

PK Iwas thinking the same thing. The football Gods are warning us " You better draft a QB in this upcoming draft" The injuries are coming so close together its sad. Damn time fly's I still remember Romo being 3rd string and this young guy.
