If you look at the top offensive teams in the league this year (Saints, Colts, Chargers and Vikings... to a lesser extent the Cards), we have comparable talent at the skill positions.
But their OCs have been more adept and getting their WRs in favorable matchups. Even their RBs. But the WRs are my focus right now.
Somebody made a thread about this last week but he was absolutely right. How many times do we throw bombs to our WRs and let them try to make plays. Austin made one in Kansas city and Roy is plenty capable.
How many times did Rivers throw deep last week with Jenkins all over his man? Just take a shot and you can get a PI or your WR can make a play. And it also threatens the D and keeps them from being as aggressive in the middle of the field.
How many times do QBs like Rivers and Brees throw the ball to their guys when it seems like they might be covered? I think that's one of the main things holding us back now.
And a huge part of this falls on Romo too. He has a tendency for trying to force balls into tight spaces on 3rd downs instead of just taking the one on one matchup with a shot downfield. 3rd downs are the down where you'll get the most one on one matchups downfield and when we have to take shots. 2 of the Charger's biggest plays last week came on 3rd downs.
