Romo and his perception

I have said it before and I will say it again, Romo would be a top 3 qb with the right coaches surrounding him. Garrett is his worst enemy. He needs a coach that will call him out and keep him under control. He needs a oc who will commit, and stay committed to running the football especially inside the 20. We leave so many points on the board when we go shotgun on first and goal inside the 5.
I am sick and tired of watching us get a false start, holding call, or take a sack because we choose to throw the ball out of the shotgun formation inside the 5 yard line.

Maybe he'll be like John Elway, win his first Super Bowl at age 37, and ride off into the sunset a champion. Honestly, I can see that happening.

Elway made it to 3 SB's before that though. Romo has one playoff win.

He had to take a chance in that situation. Especially how the defense was playing. He really couldn't play safe or we punt and Peyton scores for the win. The worse part about the whole series is that, they should have run the ball on first down.

That would have been a better "safe" play.

Well, you can be aggressive and play smart football too, thats all I am saying. I totally agree, running the ball was the key. The worst that could happen is that we chew some clock, make them use timeouts, and give Manning a longer field and a lot less time on the clock. Oh, and hope our defense holds?

So ... yeah.

How many playoff wins did Plunkett have before he was traded to the Raiders? How many WINS did Steve Young have before trade to Niners?

I think the perception of Romo is right-on. A great player who can be one of the best who, to this point, makes game-breaking mistakes at very inopportune times. It's simple. That doesn't mean he sucks. That doesn't mean we all hate him. It's just how it's been so far. Maybe he's just been extremely unlucky, I don't know.

He still gives us our best shot at winning...and is someone worth cheering for.

But that doesn't mean people are automatically wrong when they say he chokes.

Except that he is 6th among active QBs in 4th quarter comebacks and has the best QB rating in the 4th quarter. Don't let the facts disrupt the perception though.

They were both on awful teams before the salary cap. Dallas has always had more talent then those teams, especially on offense. I think it's in Romo's head that he's a choker. I don't know if he'll ever get over it.

At which point Peyton would still have driven Denver down the field for the winning fg, and the folks who are complaining tonight about us being "too aggressive" would be saying that we were too passive.

What statistically qualifies as a 4th quarter comeback? Being down a point at the start of the 4th quarter?

He's had his days and made some comebacks. On the big stages though? Choke.

Just when you're ready to believe in him he'll break your heart. You know it and so does everyone else. Heck I think even he knows it.

Difference was not the teams or even the talent, it was the coaches and the culture they cultivated.

The problem is, we always choke with our typical offensive set. Why did Dallas call these deep routes again, instead of go to the Dez crossing routes that were killing Denver all fourth quarter. Why not go to Beasley? Yet again, they resorted to their same Achilles heel... They had plenty of time to move down the field, especially with the tie.

I don't see it as choking. Not like he made a boneheaded pass.

Sometimes the defense just makes a good play. They got pressure on him, affected the throw, and the linebacker made an athletic move for the diving pick.

Even if he had taken the sack there, the end result of the game would likely have been the exact same thing - Denver runs out the clock and kicks a field goal.

Sometimes you just need to give credit where credit is due.

They'll be fine.

In thinking why Romo chose the worse time to make a mistake, i'm asking, why does the offensive line choose the worst time to not protect him. Sacked on first down, pressured with guys at his feet on the INT. First and second down, the line didn't do its job. In order for a game winning drive, the line has to hold up its end of the bargain.

They'll be fine? What do you consider fine? 11-5 and a playoff win? 8-8 and no playoffs but Jerry saying next year will be different? If you;re saying they will be fine, I'd love to know what that means.

Im not a Romo lover but im not blaming him for this loss.He played great throwing the ball down field, attacking the D,not dinking and dunking everything.D played badly and don't forget the 2 penalties on that last drive. The hold on the kickoff, i think cost us 29 yards. Then Romo makes a good pass and Murray gets called for a hold. Those two penalties where big, cost us a lot of yards and put us in a hole.

I'm watching the Niners on SNF and it's the 4th quarter. Kapernick is stinking the place up and he just completed his first pass since the 1st quarter and his team is up 24 to 3 or something like that. Let that sink in for a second. We have a QB that throws for 500 yards and 5 TD's and he loses. Romo has to have more losses in games where he had a 100 plus QB rating than any other QB.
