Wade isn't the problem with Romo. Romo is the problem with Romo. The only coach that would make Romo better is the coach that can find somebody who can suitably replace Romo. That would take some convincing and salesmanship on Jerry and Co. because we've invested $32 million guaranteed in Romo's future. And I can see Jerry's viewpoint that we should be able to get a coach that can make Romo into a great player, but we have zero chance of doing it because there's no threat of Romo losing his job.
It reminds me a lot of 'The Natural' when Pop Fisher tells Bump that he needs to shape up because they will replace him with Roy Hobbs. Bump shapes up (but unfortunately dies crashing thru the wall). We need a young Roy Hobbs.
Personally, if I was Wade I would get with Garrett and make sure that we are on the same page and then bring Romo in and say that we can't afford to see him blow games for the team anymore. And if Romo doesn't get the hint, then I'm bringing in Kitna.
You don't yank young, inexperienced future franchise QB's when they struggle because it will destroy their confidence. But Romo is far beyond the young and inexperienced QB. It's one thing to have an off day with accuracy (which is another concern I have), but it's another thing to be off and still make careless decisions. Personally I'm done with believing in Romo until he proves me otherwise. Until then, I believe we've got to find a way to replace him in a smart and affordable way. If I was offered a top 10 pick in some fashion for Romo and liked the the upcoming QB class I probably make that move.
