“With any professional sport, there will be injuries. In golf, the torque forces created with the golf swing and the turn on the ball can lead to back injuries. Today’s professional golfers are better athletes than previous generations, and they are stronger, make a bigger turn on the ball and create more club head speed. With the number of balls they hit on a daily basis, the wear and tear on their spine and back muscles is much different than it was on players 20 years ago.” - Dr. Michael Duffy, Spinal Surgeon, Texas Back Institute

_____________

How is Romo playing golf competitively—heck, winning by nine strokes even—after he was so close to permanent paralysis...

...as was so commonly insinuated by some of his critics for so long.

Poor Candice. Football Golf is gonna destroy her family. :(

I believe he made his back as strong as before any injury during his last season, and the bone he broke in his last injury usually heals well. He was good to go. But no one let him.

Demarcus errrr…. Demarco Murray said that he and Tony just got back from Cabo. #9 exercised some demons when he won a golf tournament by 9, yes 9 strokes.

Hall Of Fame pitcher John Smoltz recently made waves in the golf world by qualifying for the U.S. Senior Open. Tony Romo might not be too far behind.

The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback authored perhaps the most impressive feat of his golf career (thus far) over the weekend with a win at the Racine Tri-Course Amateur Championship. And Romo, 38, didn't just win, he dominated to the tune of a nine-shot victory on Sunday. Hey, that's a field goal, a touchdown, and a botched extra point! Sorry, couldn't help it. . .

Romo grabbed control of the tournament with an opening round 68 at Racine Country Club, then shot 71 at H.F. Johnson Park Golf Course to grab a five-shot advantage going into the final round -- a lead even Romo couldn't cough up. Again, sorry. I'm a Giants fan.

It didn't hurt that the final round was played on one of Romo's home courses, Meadowbrook Country Club, where he shot two under to pull away from the field. And to be fair to Romo, I don't care who else was in the field. A nine-shot win is impressive. And this was actually the second time Romo, who went to high school in nearby Burlington, Wisc., has won this Racine event, having also taken the title in 2004.

Of course, this isn't the first time Tony has made golf news this year. In March, the retired NFL star turned CBS analyst made his PGA Tour debut after accepting a sponsor's exemption into the inaugural Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. Romo shot 77-82 to miss the cut and finish in last place. He also failed to make it through U.S. Open local qualifying in April.

But it sounds like Romo's golf game is in better shape now. He told The Journal Times he's been working with Chris O’Connell and Andy Traynor from Plane Truth Golf since the start of 2018.

“It’s starting to come together and it’s feeling more natural now,” Romo said. And to think, he's still got 12 more years before he turns 50. Watch out, senior tour!

lol @ the Romo headbob gif.

Off-topic: Standard articles embed a video or nothing at all. I think embedding a gif like that one would make articles ‘pop’ a little more. Webmasters might not like the bandwidth drain though.

Isn't she a billionaire now? Just sayin'......
Uh, no.
Net worth is estimated at 170 mil.
Anyway, I think Tony is doing just fine in that area with net worth estimated between 70-90 mil...and for more importantly, actually extremely happy in marriage with 3 kids and lovely wife
Nice to have had a choice though!
