I just made an interesting discovery... While working on my QB stats I realized that Tony Romo is the only QB in NFL history who has averaged 2.02 TDs per game (including playoff games) for his career, at least of guys with over 10,000 career passing yards anyway. He has 83 TDs in 41 games!

The next highest is Kurt Warner with 208 TDs in 112 games (1.86 per game).

Peyton Manning is at 1.83, Steve Young, Daryle Lamonica, and Sonny Jurgensen are at 1.80.

For comparison sake, Tom Brady is at 1.76, and Brett Favre is at 1.73.

When talking about Tony Romo's faults let's not forget to take into consideration his assets, which are considerable.

Nah. That can't be. I've been told he's "trash".

I hear ya. All I can say is that the guy produces a lot of good plays for us. More good than bad by a wide margin.

Now try and figure out how many interceptions he averages a game, compared to the rest of the league. I would really like to know.

 I bet it's less than the all mighty HOFer Brett Favre.

Yes, please do this so I can show people that would like to base their "trash" argument on that stat why they're stupid.

If you want to know that so badly, go and look it up? Some people just have to find anything to ***** about.

Romo has averaged 1.15 INTs per game (including playoff games), 47 INTs in 41 games. That's about average, he ranks 62nd out of the 119 QBs on my list.

I bet it's less than the all mighty HOFer Brett Favre.
It is:

Brett Favre (65th) is slightly worse at 1.16 per game, 338 INTs in 291 games.

Neil O'Donnell is the best at 0.67 per game, 70 INTs in 104 games.

Troy Aikman (16th) was pretty good at 0.88 per game, 147 INTs in 167 games.

George Blanda ranks the lowest on my list but that is a bit misleading since he was a backup for a lot of years and my stats for games are for games started. Either way, he was an INT machine with 292 career INTs. Only Brett Favre has thrown more than old George.

Yeah sadly, Romo can't even be mentioned in the same paragraph as those guys.

I missed old George Blanda in my initial post but he ranks 3rd all-time in TDs per game behind Warner. He was so low on my list that I didn't see him until I was looking at INTs. But he still threw 49 more INTs than TDs over his career.

Just for comparison's sake, Aikman ranked 16th in INTs per game but is 105th in TDs per game with 1.09 per game.

If you take his TDs per game - INTs per game you get a difference of 0.21.

Now if you look at Romo's you get a difference of 0.87, nearly a 2-1 TD to INT ratio!

Anyway you slice it folks, Romo is a very productive QB in spite of what some "fans" WANT to believe.

Neither could they after 3 seasons as a starter.

Then we can figure out how many yards per attempt he has. And we can combine all 3 stats into a single rating. Let's call it -- QB rating. In this rating, Romo will have the exact same QB rating as Peyton Manning, which would be tied for 2nd all time. Yes, 2nd all time, behind only Steve Young.

Hey, you're right!

Some people just don't want to accept the truth though, they would rather live in a world of their own making.

Here's a bit of a twist:

Jon Kitna is the all-time leader in pass attempts per game!

So we have two all-time leaders on the team right now. :D

It's amazing how many people don't realize how incredibly lucky we are to have Romo as our starting QB.

Some are just ignorant, I think, while other's don't really have a good grasp on football, while still others are probably rival fans posing as Cowboys supporters.

For some reason, rival fans simply can't stand Tony Romo. I don't understand it. Ahhh, wait... I think I know: He makes Dallas an instant contender when he is under center, and is one of the best QB's in the NFL... and he didn't even cost us a draft pick!

How could some undrafted free agent from some no-name school be a top QB in the NFL? That can't happen can it?

Got another weird one...

Peyton Manning ranks 9th on my all-time ranking list, Eli is 45th, and Archie is 115th, dead last.

That's if I include QBs with 10,000 - 20,000 passing yards. Normally I only rate those with 20,000 or more but I wanted to see where Eli would rank.

Romo comes in 11th. Just sayin zall.
