For the people that think he cant win big games.
Like i said in another thread, its only a big game for Romo when he loses, cause you can see he has won some big games in his short career.

Ended Indianapolis undefeated season at 9-0.

Romo: 19 for 23 - 226 yards, 0 TDs, 1 Int

Dec. 16, 2006 - Cowboys 38, Falcons 28 (December)

Cowboys improved to 9-5, assuring them of a playoff berth.

Romo: 22 for 29 - 278 yards, 2 TDs, 1 Int

Sept. 23, 2007: Cowboys 34, Bears 10

First game after signing a six-year, $67.5 million contract extension.

Romo: 20 for 25 - 324 yards, 3 TDs, 1 Int

Nov. 11, 2007: Cowboys 31, Giants 20

Cowboys started out 3-0 in the division for the first time since 1999.

Romo: 20 for 28 - 247 yards, 4 TDs, 1 Int

Nov. 29, 2007: Cowboys 37, Green Bay 27

Monday Night Football against Green Bay that essentially clinched home field advantage for the Cowboys throughout the playoffs.

Romo: 19 for 30 - 309 yards, 4 TDs, 1 Int

Nov. 16, 2008: Cowboys 14, Commanders 10

After missing three games with a fractured pinkie, he returned to lead his team to a must win on the road.

Romo: 19 for 27 - 198 yards, 1 TDs, 2 Int

Dec. 14, 2008: Cowboys 20, Giants 8 (December)

Following the worst game of his career in a loss to Pittsburgh, Romo leads the Cowboys in a game they HAD TO WIN to remain in control of their playoff destiny.

Romo: 20 for 30 - 244 yards, 2 TDs, 0 Int

You listed all the positives, list the negatives too!

Others have cited the negatives as "proof" that Romo can't win big games. He just provided evidence to the contrary.

The list could be longer. How about 2006 on the road against the Giants on December 3? Whenever Dallas and the Giants play, it is a big game.

Romo does win some big games but he fails to win the big games that matter the most thus far and that is play off games.

He also loses other critical big games against the better teams in the league with an exception of a few because he struggles against the better defenses.

Even in the winning list, Romo had at least 1 interception per game save for the last Giants game when the defense finally comes alive.

Romo CAN win big games but thus far he does not do so consistently and in play off play.

I like Romo as QB and I do think he will eventually mature and improve his game to championship QB level but if you were honest, he is simply not there yet.

To admit this does not mean you blame only Romo or think we need a new QB which is absurd but it does mean some are able to reconcile Romo's poor play in some big games and play off contention with his need to improve.

Why? He already proved his point.

It wasn't his point I was looking for. It is relative data for comparison. I'm an engineer, the numbers matter to me.

That explains a lot.

Who would you rather have than Romo?

Good post. I like Romo too but in each of those games save the Giants game, as you astutely pointed out, he consistently had a turnover. I need to go back to check the stat sheet for those games to see if he added a fumble to his list in any of those games.

The coaches need to rein him in and limit him like Coach Parcells did until he proves he can actually protect the football. That is the one thing (besides leadership) that I loved about Aikman during the SB runs of the '90's. Aikman placed a high value on protecting the football and made great decisions.

I really think either you have it or you don't. Protecting the ball is not something you learn. Maybe I'm wrong. Favre is a 17 or 18 year vet and he still makes poor decisions with the ball. I think Romo is destined to be that for as long as he is a QB. I hope I am wrong.

okay here are some numbers:

Career:
28-12 as a starter
16 300+ yard games
79 TDs vs. 43 Int's
10,127 passing ayrds
97.0 QB rating

All that in 2 1/2 years

Again, I ask who would you replace him with?

Favre has also thrown more TDs than anyone. When we beat the Giants, Tony was great. But no one wants to give any credit to the Ravens or Steelers defenses. everyone acts like our offense is playing in a vacuum. Good defenses make the other team make mistakes.

No one talks about what a great job Romo did in the second half, putting us in position to beat the Ravens. If our defense could have made a tackle, we would have won that game.

I dunno. I'm not sure I would count all of those as "big games"

Hes definitely not just a loser but he is also definitely not just a winner.

Until he proves otherwise, hes only a guy who is as dependable as his last play.

Ups and downs.
