Romo changing up the snap count

I was watching the replay on NFL Network of the NYG/CAR game and it was mentioned how Carolina was switching up their snap count so the Giants couldn't read Carolina's offensive formations as fast and wouldn't get a good rush of the line of scrimmage when the ball was snapped.

This seems like it would work perfectly with us because Romo NEVER changes up the snap count. Especially when you're playing elite defenses like Baltimore and Pittsburgh, this would definitely help us IMO. I just think Romo likes to "wing it" sometimes in regards to "Oh I have two or three plays to audible to so I'll check the defense, take my time until the play clock gets to :1 and decide which one would work the best." Tony, just get to the line (once in a while) and hike the frickin' ball and catch the defense off guard!

P.S. I know this might be asking a LOT of Gurode considering he can't snap the ball on time anyway

Real easy for the defense to time their rush when they know the ball is getting snapped with one second on the clock.....

Yep, this has been a consistent problem. Every play it seems Dallas snaps with 3 or less seconds on the clock.

I think it's the whole "take what the defense gives you" philosophy that Garrett has talked about. I think he believes that if we wait till the last second, they'll have to show their hand.

I wish we would just go out and take it to people more often, too.

lmao, changing up the snap count with one of the most penalized offensive lines in the league?

i cringe at the thought of Flotel having to deal with varying snap counts *shudder*

Ugh trust me same here. I'm just saying once in a while to catch the defense off guard because there could be a big play waiting to happen.

Romo doesnt need to even worry about the snap count....Gurode makes it up on his own.

No, no, no, we run the chinese firedrill offense, cant you tell? Actually snapping the ball with time to spare is a cardinal sin.

When he yells kill it's a run every single time.

Does any other team in the league use "kill" in their audibilizing? Seems like a dead give away.

Its so sad because Bledsoe did it too.

I was thinking the same thing. Doesn't this team have any more signals/calls other than "kill, kill, kill?"

There's the signal where Romo flaps his arms like a bird during the no huddle. It usually means a pass to Witten....those blasted secret plays...

Rather than the "take what the defense is giving" philosophy we need to just go out and dictate to the defense what we want to do!
AKA.... the early to mid 90's cowboys.

Yeah, I was just going to say this same thing. We have used that same audible cadence for quite a while.

Time to throw in a different code word.

They know they're a big play offense and the offensive drives end quickly. Then defense gets tired so we haven't been full throttle aggressive like we used to be on O.

Exactly, he cant even get it right when he knows we take it to one second every dang time.

I mentioned this same thing a couple weeks ago w/out much comment. I remember during the early 90's heyday we would get to the line, get set and immediately snap it a few times a game. Esp on a short yardage situation when handing it to Smith. Just catch them off guard occasionaly when they're probably halfway relaxing and catching their breath from the previous play.
