Romo coming into a game

Something else to talk about besides TO.

On last Sunday's "Cowboys Huddle" (which is carried on Sunday Ticket--for those of waffling about getting it), Laufenberg asked Parcells about playing Romo. Parcells says he definitely wants Romo to play in some games this year & will play him if the team is up by 3 or 4 touchdowns.

What was interesting is that he said he wouldn't do it if we are losing. He feels the QB who, in essence, has caused the mess should go down with the ship. That the point of putting in a backup QB is to get their confidence up, & if the team is losing badly it doesn't do that. Just a different feel overall between putting him in if the team is winning as opposed to losing.

I think it is on pretty early. (10:30? Central for a noon game). It is on the channel that is carrying the Cowboys game.

I usually forget about it as well.

I understand the point Parcells makes about putting Romo in a losing game, nevertheless, there are only so many chances a back-up QB will have, so I don't know how you can limit him further. I believe Parcells needs to get Romo in any chance he gets.

That time is not yet. Bledsoe and TO (and the rest of the cowboys offense) have yet to "click" for a whole game. The penalties alone speak to that. Romo gets no shot until the offense can get through a game without shooting itself in the foot continuously.

To me, it makes no sense to put Romo in when you are UP by 3 or 4 TD's. All he's going to do is hand the ball off, Crayton could do that!

If the Boys are down 3 or 4 touchdowns, Romo will probably be running for his life, so really it comes down to this. He should come in when the offense is playing poorly for a full half. No matter what the score is, IMHO. Sometimes a team needs a spark and sometimes that means a QB change. Does that mean Romo starts the following week? No, but it gives Romo some very much needed playing time, to see if he's our QB of the future.

How many games do you win by 3 or 4 TDs?

Especially when the coaches "style" is defense, special teams and ball control.

By saying what he said he basically contradicted himself...on one hand he says he wants to play Romo...on the other he wants to do it in a situation that is so rare it may not even happen, and serves no real benefit, since all he is going to do is hand off or take a knee anyway.

Once again we have complete BS from Parcells, and not a single media person challenged him about it.:banghead:

Hopefully this shuts up all the Romoholics, I do however see a blowout this weekend so maybe he will get a chance to come in and take a few knees so he can add to his impressive career numbers in the regular season.

They run all the Coaches shows at 11:30 Eastern. The trick is finding out what channel it will be on--they don't usually specify the show until a day or two ahead. I have TiVo, so I have both Cowboys Huddle & Cowboy Huddle on my wish list (the show has been listed both ways).

By "any chance he gets" I didn't mean just throwing Romo in at anytime, I just meant he should play when it's mop up time with a big lead AND when we find ourselves blown out of a game. In either sitiuation Bledsoe, TO and the rest of the starters aren't gaining anything from the experience anyway.

FWIW, the Cowboys Huddle isn't a PC, it's a Cowboys-produced show with Laufenberg lobbing puffballs at Parcells. Similar to all the coaches' shows.

and sit on 3 point leads, we won't see Romo this year. Just to sum that up for everyone. Which is ok with me.
