Romo heading up workouts

Complain to Fox sports.

It was sarcasm, since the post i replied to asked why Romo needed assistance.

Anyway, good to see the leaders of this team stepping up and getting some workouts in together. Lets just all pray no one gets hurt.

So does this mean Romo isn't writing FULL PADS in red on the player-organized training camp leaderboard? This is so confusing.

Well, we'll all know who's to blame if someone DOES get hurt.

That's right.

Tony Romo.

That guy can't catch a break.

:p:

Oh God can you imagine if someone does get injured during it? Tony will get killed by the media.

That's why I suspect these workouts are going to be very, very light. Guys don't want to get hurt and jeopardize their future earnings during a lockout.

But it will be that way for everyone league-wide, so no one is going to get an advantage out of it.

Almost makes you wonder how much they even will help at all, besides the team bonding side of it.

I'm sure the coaches want these to be light workouts as well. However I do see advantages in that anytime you can get out there and go through plays as a unit there is a benifet to it. Even if Garrett was holding this workout it would not be in full gear

I doubt they help much at all. If very much of training camp is missed, the players will still be extremely rusty IMO.

But again, everyone will be, so it won't really matter.

Those are legit concerns but it is the boat players are in and not just with the Cowboys. Other team’s players will be holding similar session. I don't expect these session will be physical much of it will be light 7 on 7 workouts and going through the plays. Clearly with no trainers being present guys have to be careful and smart

clearly, it is a disaster waiting to happen.

Me? I'd rather have rusty players than limping players.

As I said I would expect these to be light workouts guys going through plays. Dallas will not be the only ones doing it and getting some work in helping to keep guys sharpe is part of the deal if you expect to play this game. When you get right down to it even if the coaches were holding this it is still a OTA type work out, no pads and no hitting is taking place.

There are positives which can be felt by teams holding these pseudo mini-camps. For instance, it prevents fans from going ballistic just knowing that players on their favorite teams are organizing like this ...

Waitasec.

Didn't factor in cowboyjoe's reaction.

Nevermind. :(

In Cowboyjoe land these practices aren't actually happening and the thread is actually about something completely different.

The NFL allows team a maximum of 14 OTA workouts each offseason. The limits of OTAs include:

•No pads except protective knee or elbow pads. Helmets are permitted.
•No live contact; no live contact drills between offensive and defensive linemen.
•A maximum six hours per day, with a maximum two hours on field for any player.
•7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills will be permitted, providing no live contact takes place.
