Romo: I don't like something he said

Ok, let me start off by saying that I've always been 50/50 on Romo.

I know his stats speak for themselves, but yada, yada, yada. I root for him, want him to win, etc. You get the message.

However, today while listening the The ticket at work, I heard another one of Romo's 10 second cut-ins about the upcoming game. And for some reason, this one really struck me the wrong way.

Basically, Romo was talking about the Bears game, and he said the same thing that he always says:

"we just have to go out there and continue to improve as a football team"

You know what Romo, I'm tired of the talk about "improving". Or "continuing to improve".

You're in the freakin NFL. Why don't you say that we're going to go into Chicago and take care of business! Show some balls! Why don't you say that we have a good gameplan in place, and we are going to go into Chicago and implement our will on them and leave with a victory. What do you have to lose? Don't just save the macho talk for the locker room. SAY IT TOO THE WORLD.

Some might say that saying that will fire up the other team. I say bullcrap. These guys are paid professionals. They know when to get fired up and when not to. Heck, every team gets fired up when they play the Cowboys.

This is a huge game tonight. Say it is to the national media, and maybe, just maybe, once, your football team that is continually trying to improve, will actually come out firing on all cylinders.

What Romo says to the media will have no bearing on who wins or loses tonight. Romo knows this, so he chooses to say nothing. Wisely, I would submit.

Do your talking with your play on the field. That goes for every player, not just Romo. After the game, nobody cares what was said before the game, unless your the Giants trying to bully other teams.

If he did that then he would get slaughtered for giving the Bears bulletin board material. So even though not talking smack is the smart thing to do, he still gets slaughtered, so he is in a lose-lose situation with some people.

Do you mean like the Giants grew a pair and kept running their mouths before they played the Cowboys for the second time?

Exactly, it buys you nothing. If you don't think Romo wants to win just as bad as you want us to win then I don't know what to tell you. When you're the most important person in the building of a billion dollar enterprise you have to act the part.

This isn't high school. Romo says exactly what he's supposed to say.

Doesn't that apply to the Cowboys as well? Aren't they paid professionals who know when to get fired up? I don't think Romo or anyone else on the team needs to make bold comments on a radio show to get motivated.

I think your upset that Romo didn't get you fired up.

That image is actually a current photo of our very own Max. He didn't always look that way. But he had another thread just like this one in the past and that was the result of the piling on.
