into his game.

For ex:

John Elway was known to tap the ball right before he threw. I didn't even realize Romo did it until i saw a close up of him doing it. So me being the curious person that i am, I looked closely at his other throws, and he does indeed do it on pretty much all of them.http://youtube.com/watch?v=rovap0pPGos

Brett Favre is a guy known to have some fun on the field, aka after handing the ball off playfully jump up and pretend to throw the ball. Romo does this on occasion, and I'm guessing he got that from Favre. http://youtube.com/watch?v=5hpZloSa4Z8

Michael Jordan always stuck his tongue out whenever he went to the rim, and Romo does this whenever he throws/moves around in the pocket. (Although Romo doesn't stick it out nearly as far as Jordan. That could be because his tongue is longer.........)

Joe Montana had an uncanny ability to avoid the rush in the pocket, and throw on the run. Romo is as close to Joe in this regard as any QB i have ever seen. Also when Joe was at ND he had an extremely slow release, he worked at it, and made his release much faster similar to how Romo made adjustments to his release. Its worth noting that Joe had a over the top delivery, while Romo has a 3/4 delivery.

Just some observations i have come across, feel free to add any if you would like.

Almost every QB taps the ball before they throw it. It's a horrible habit which is impossible to break.

In a game of inches, that fraction of a second to tap the ball can be the difference between a completion and an incompletion.

I don't think thats true. He is doing what feels comfortable to him. If you make him stop tapping the ball before he throws, that could get him out of his rhythm, and thus being off in a worse situation.

Talk about nitpicking when you have an 11-1 quarterback. You need to go back to bed. Get another cup of coffee or, just count your blessings.
Sorry maybe I'm the one who needs that. But Tony is doing just fine. Even with all his little quirks, or maybe because of all his little quirks. Don't go changing him.

Romo sort of reminds me of J Montana in his ability to move around in the pocket and make plays. Plus, Romo appears he has that "cold killer" instinct when a play needs to be made. But off the field, he is just chilled out and jokes a lot. Like Montana, our Romo seems to be on top of his game when the pressure is on.

I doubt anyone said that Montana had the strongest arm either . . . . But he was deadly accurate, smart, and had complete control of the offense.

Who's nitpicking? It wasn't directed at Tony Romo. It was just a statement.

The OP commented that Tony taps the ball like John Elway. My response was that every QB taps the ball prior to throwing and it's a bad habit every QB possesses.

Is that a good thing or bad thing? :D

Not for nothing and as much as I hate Keanu's acting, the guy looks incredibly young for someone who's over 40. Frak!!! I wished I looked that young at 25. ha ha

Nice post Woods and I could not agree more.

It's amazing how people use "frak" now because of a TV Show... :D

Can't that tongue thing be kinda dangerous in football? :) I mean, someone hits Romo from behind and he bits off his tongue?

Could be, but I have no clue what tv show you're talking about.

I've used Frak for years cause my company's email filter catches the real word.

Ah. Frak was originated by the original Battlestar Galactica and brought back in the new one. Since the new one started using it, it's popped up in other shows and so forth.

He's got one of the quickest releases I have seen. Plus he can move around in the pocket, avoid pressure, and keeps his eye's downfield the whole time. I have seen him make some plays that where just jaw dropping to say the least because of those attributes.
