If Drew Brees can't pass a bad defense into the playoffs, then it can't be done. Brees had a whopping 43 TDs and 5,177 yards (the 8th and 4th best marks in league history, respectively) in 2012.
That's also that year they lost their head coach due to that bounty-gate.
I remember a lot of people were excited to see Rob Ryan go, talking about how he can't get enough turnovers, and yet when he ended up in New Orleans, he wasn't a problem. The herd is thinning down and we've traded just about everyone and the only long-stays left are jerry, garrett and romo. Honestly, I feel the problem pecking order is just as listed. Jerry is the head problem because he won't hire a GM, nor does he hold the HC or the QB accountable. This whole team is built around, "It's everyone else's fault but Garrett and Romos'. Second, Garrett should not be an NFL head coach right now. He should still be an assistant or an HC at the college level developing his coaching style. Romo deserves some of the blame too, because we've done any and everything to make the team 'Romo-friendly', and yet we still get the same results. If we don't have success, who will get the blame this year? Marinelli?
Romo isn't the sole problem, but he's part of the problem. If it's all about defense, then there is no reason we should have spent 4 of the last 5 first rounders on offense. We keep saying we need a great defense, but we don't invest in the defense... but then again if we invested it in defense and didn't get anywhere, there would be the excuse that we need more O-lineman. There's a point where if we don't get anywhere this year, we need to get a competing QB in here and see if that'll do anything.
