This is where I'll agree. I'm a big Romo critic, but this is the reason for lack of success.

Well... 2007 saw another top 10 defense with a vastly better defensive passer rating than '09 (one of the most important stats). But one could say that 07 secondary fell apart in the playoffs.

But other than that, the Cowboys have been pathetic on defense.

Romo has This Year to get it done....

Deep down everyone knows why the cowboys can't win, and the answer is in my avatar.

Tony is part of the problem, but our terrible drafting and acquisition of talent is an even bigger one.

This team would be nowhere with Romo. What a massive grand slam was his udfa signing and the staff's faith in his development. When absolutely everything is on your shoulders, sometimes you will fail. That doesn't mean you choke. It means the team can't function unless you are perfect.

Brilliant post. Tony has no help, no running game, no defense, no coaching. He has to go shotgun and wing it to get anything going. Jason would be 3-13 with out Romo and that fraud of a coach totally knows it too.

Possibly the very LEAST reason why Dallas has not won more than 8 for three straight years...that would be Romo.

lol@tony has no help. So we pretty much need to throw everyone under the bus to protect Romo
Romo had 2 1st rounders in the O-line and another 1st rounder as a receiver(Dez Bryant) on the offense for him. 3 of the 4 first rounders in the past 4 years went to offense, and now it's 4 out of 5 this year. Got him Brian Waters to solidify the O-Line even more. He has hall of famer Jason Witten for Tight-End. Demarco Murray was very solid at running back. Terrance Williams was another solid receiver for him. Dwayne Harris was outstanding on returns. Jason Garrett even had play-calling removed and Callahan called the plays. Same results. Romo got more freedom to do his thing on offense. Same results. Romo is not the sole problem, but he's as much of a problem as anyone else. Saying that it's everyone but him and that he has no help is a falsehood. We've traded all the 'problem-childs' to make the team more Romo friendly, and yet same results. Bye bye TO, Bye bye Martellus Bennett, bye bye 'lazy and fat' Felix Jones, and yet the same results. Just from what we invested in offense, we should be making the playoffs on offense alone.

Drew Brees in 2012 had more weapons a better coach and better o line. What was the result when he had the worst defense in the league? 7-9 and no playoffs. By the way, we lost to them in a game when Romo threw 4tds and no picks.

If Drew Brees can't pass a bad defense into the playoffs, then it can't be done. Brees had a whopping 43 TDs and 5,177 yards (the 8th and 4th best marks in league history, respectively) in 2012.

Or he could throw for 170 yards and throw 2 picks and people will blame anybody but hi.

YR

Thats the way it is. And whats funny is most of the people that defend him also bash Jerry for giving him his contract lol.

But i always say when concerning Romo, you can debate his pros and cons and be right in both instances. Guy can look like the greatest QB of all time one week and Jamarcus Russell the next.

Yep. Another thread about me. I am so inside people's heads. Sad.
I wonder if 24 hours would pass by before...

Tony, put the iPad down and come to bed.

Be right there. Good night CowboysZone. Try not to comment about me.
"Try not to comment." I crack myself up.

That's also that year they lost their head coach due to that bounty-gate.
I remember a lot of people were excited to see Rob Ryan go, talking about how he can't get enough turnovers, and yet when he ended up in New Orleans, he wasn't a problem. The herd is thinning down and we've traded just about everyone and the only long-stays left are jerry, garrett and romo. Honestly, I feel the problem pecking order is just as listed. Jerry is the head problem because he won't hire a GM, nor does he hold the HC or the QB accountable. This whole team is built around, "It's everyone else's fault but Garrett and Romos'. Second, Garrett should not be an NFL head coach right now. He should still be an assistant or an HC at the college level developing his coaching style. Romo deserves some of the blame too, because we've done any and everything to make the team 'Romo-friendly', and yet we still get the same results. If we don't have success, who will get the blame this year? Marinelli?

Romo isn't the sole problem, but he's part of the problem. If it's all about defense, then there is no reason we should have spent 4 of the last 5 first rounders on offense. We keep saying we need a great defense, but we don't invest in the defense... but then again if we invested it in defense and didn't get anywhere, there would be the excuse that we need more O-lineman. There's a point where if we don't get anywhere this year, we need to get a competing QB in here and see if that'll do anything.

He is being paid 120 million. He might not have thrown many interceptions in those loses, but he wasn't going to beat the Saints completing 10 of 24 for 148 yardS. That's not a 120m QB. Aaron Rodgers would retire if he had a game like that.

Was that the game where the saints broke the all time record for first downs in a game? Knew it, one's again Romo's fault.
By the way, Rodgers had rating of 60 against the bengals last year and didn't retire, weird.

120 million QBs don't complete 10 out of 24 for 148 yards. How about throwing more than 1 TD.. Mr. 120 million dollar QB that has one playoff win in 8 years.

EIGHT YEARS... same problem. At some point people will wake up and realize that Romo is the main problem...

8 years..
