Romo or Brees

Being wrong, or chatty, or even downright illogical is still not the definition of a troll. A person can be as illogical or unreasonable as they can be and still not be a troll. Marcus purpose isn't to be here just to disrupt the website or stir up nonsensical crap or push a hidden agenda. He discusses and makes his points, and like everyone here, sometimes is right on point and sometimes can be off base. And, of course, whether a poster is on point or off base is often subject to the reader's personal beliefs and biases and knowledge. I am discussing this because I have seen the same accusation tossed out at me for the same reason - just because the accuser has a firm disagreement with my viewpoint. It's a nonsense accusation.
He’s not the Chatty Patty, you are.
Move on, it’s not that serious... he himself doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as bothered about it.

You are under the impression that you are the monitor for who should be able to post what content? I guess that's where you feel entitled to nonsensically throw around the term "troll" - everyone has to meet your approval. Sorry, but you aint that important, and your accusations - troll, chatty patty or otherwise - are still nonsense.

You already said all this, Patty. No need to quote me.

This question sounds crazy but on talent, I think Romo was just as good as Brees. I think the difference is that Brees had RBs that were weapons in the passing game. IIRC, it was one year (forgot which one) where close to 70% of his throws were to TE (when they had Graham) and RBs when everyone thought that NO was this explosive high-powered offense. Romo had a TE but he didn't have that Bush or Sproles that can run routes other than run to the flat.

I'll take the Super Bowl thank you very much.
Lol

Curious, was that Brees best statistical season?
In fact it was. More importantly, it was his defense's best season.

Brees has had seven top-5 seasons in passer rating. The year he got a ring, his defense ranked 3rd. The other six years, his defense ranked an average of 17th.

Rodgers has also had seven top-5 seasons in passer rating. The year he got a ring, his defense ranked 1st. The other six years, his defense ranked an average of 12th.

Romo had four top-5 seasons in passer rating. Over those four years, his defense ranked an average of 16th.

I would like to mention (for the boringly 3rd or 4th time) that Drew Brees went the same pre-school in Dallas that my son did....except Brees was there 20 years earlier.
UMC Child Development Center. (On SMU campus)

Useless trivia, I know, but kind of cool.
He later moved to Austin

Its something some of the websites (Wiki included until this year) still get wrong. He was raised mostly in Austin but was born and spent his 1st 5-6 years in Dallas

Definitely stands out.
Some would argue it took him a quarter to overcome our dumb gameplans:muttley:
Others would say, as a student of the game, it took him awhile to disect what the oppossing game plan was.

Either way, these stats run counter to the silly and uninformed narrative that he was not a closer.
Exact opposite, actually

This also reminds us how insanely good Rodgers is.

Rodgers is the best QB I've ever seen. Student of the game, smart, and smug about it. I don't know why I like that last part about him but I do.

Redonk question, Brees is a first ballot HoFr. Romo was great but not all time great like Brees, who btw is STILL lighting up the league.
Oh the ruage in Miami eh?

I kinda wonder how SD fans feel about Brees. If SD would have been a bit more patient, they wouldn't have drafted Eli and ending up swapping for Rivers. They could have drafted Larry Fitzgerald.

Now imagine an offense with Brees, Antonio Gates, Larry Fitz and Ladainian Tomlinson all in their prime! That foursome could have re-written the record books, might be talking about the Chargers Dynasty instead of the Pats.

This is an interesting question for me. I wanted Brees when he was on the market and ended up in NO. All we had at the time was an undrafted QB that had shown some flashes. If you are asking who the better QB is/was, I would take Romo. As a pure QB, he was one of the best I have ever watched play the game, great instincts, great pocket awareness, could read a D as good as anyone ever to play the game, lighting quick release and better than average arm. But if you are asking regarding who career is better, that is Brees. If I was building a team and I had to pick between a 2008 Romo and a 2008 Brees, I think I would take Romo. But it's very close.

Keep in mind that football is a team sport. Thus, Brees may have more playoff wins, yet it doesn't automatically= " Better".

In their prime, who would you rather have? Furthermore, who was better in your opinion?

I'll take the HOF shoe in... Brees. Better over more years, more durable, a record setting QB, and I'm not sure about this but, had fewer pro-bowlers around him while he he made all those records. As you said it is a team sport.

I don't think that Brees had better teams around him, IMO the talent each had around him was about equal. Brees and the Saints hit lightning in a bottle one year. And I agree, playoff wins does not = better. II'm curious to see how Romo-led teams would have performed with Payton as HC. That's purely food for thought tho

If you took Romo’s best season vs Brees best season. Who do you take?

Brees.

Then we will agree to disagree. I think calling him a troll is just a way for those that have disagreements to try and make him look bad. It's a common practice on these sites, not unlike those that claim that unless a poster is willing to bash a coach for everything from the way he stands on the sidelines to the color of his hair then he has to be a "Garrett Lover" who thinks the coach can do no wrong. It's making an extreme, and illogical accusation.

He is a troll (like the guy who quoted you right after this - though that guy doesn't even try to hide it with the facade of a point of some kind) because it doesn't matter what his point is, when it's proven wrong he will move to something else, be proven wrong again, then circle back. He is not trying to honestly discuss things, he's just trying to rile people up.

He is a much better troll than the other guy. That guy is the worst. He's not just a troll, he's a lazy troll.

Precisely and that was well proven in this thread. I wouldn’t even say he’s a good troll, but he at least is a subtle one. Despite his join date, I strongly suspect he too is a dc.com reject... the sentence structure and bizzare rantings fit the profile perfectly.

Better than the other guy is a very low bar.
