No, Garrett isn't to blame for Romo's turnovers.

He is, however, to blame for the offense flat-out not moving the ball with by far the best offensive nucleus in the NFL.

It is true, at least it is now, there are no athletic scholarships in the Ivy League.

Interesting to note that even Romo alluded to the offensive woes being the "scheme" during his post-game presser.

We know TO has said this for weeks but from Romo that raises the eyebrow.

Romo didn't have a second to breathe yesterday. He's been under huge pass rush pressure for a month. Brady or Peyton would likely have faired worse yesterday. They would have been sacked at least half a dozen times and turned it over as well. People can try to blame Romo because he's an easy scapegoat as QB, but NO QB plays well without protection. Those who say he has no heart have been watching a different team. He makes mistakes at times, but how anyone could insinuate his lack of heart after the Giants game is mindboggling. This lack of protection reminded me of when Aikman got sacked 11 times against Philly. If Aikman was back there he would have done worse than Romo. Our defense, special teams and o-line killed us this game. Romo was just scrambling for his life.

Funny that TO has said this, Crayton and Roy have said this, Newman has said this but now it takes Romo to say it in order to "raise eyebrows"? Wow. Anyone with eyes can see the playcallin was a joke. I just don't understand why Garrett has took such a step back from last season. I will never understand. But as far as firing the guy.....fans are overreacting. You don't fire a head coach or any coach after 1 season. You don't do it. A fool would yea. Danny Snyder probably would. I'm sure Zorn may be expecting to get fired anyday now. But if the Giants fired Coughlin when fans wanted him to do they get that ring? I don't think so. Fact is, you need stability in a organization. Replace and fire over time but you can't fire guys because they didn't get you a playoff win in a season. You just don't. I'm upset with Garrett like the next man. But you knew what you were getting when you took a qb coach who has never called plays in his life and made him an assistant coach and offensive coordinator. You have to live with his mistakes. That's what you guys fail to realize. Just like Romo, Garrett had success too early and now fans expect for him to be this offensive mastermind his 2nd year ever calling plays.

I disagree strongly. He was terrible last year towards the last half of the year. Don't discount last year as Romo being in the full year, a more mature offense all around with players moving into their prime (or maturing within the offense as TO) as the reason the offense was better, but not much, than the year before.

Honestly if Sparano had run the show the whole time instead of Jerry being a jerk and putting Garrett ahead of him for no reason I would have to think we'd be talking about a different team and a different Romo.

Romos attitude is the big problem here. Watch that press conference and look at what he said.. "If we dont make the playoffs next year, *shrugs shoulders*, ok." ........Thats your leader? This guy doesnt give a damn if he wins or loses. When I heard him say that, it was a slap in the face to me as a fan of this team. I have lost all respect for Romo. How in the hell can you be so nonchalant about things? I say we need to start the search for a new QB. Romo is the ultimate catch-22. You wont go anywhere without him, but you wont go anywhere with him.

yeah its definitely the "scheme" which causes Romo to be one of th most turnover prone QB's in the league

and its definitely been the "scheme" which causes him to turn into a pumkin every yr when the calendar hits December

It's easy to say if Sparano this...if Sparano that because he's with the Dolphins and they're succeeding. Do you really think if Sparano would've really succeeded here WITH Jerry being so involved with everything? I don't think he would've been any better than Wade, to be honest.

With Jerry Jones constantly involved in day-to-day operations, there's no way any coach will ever succeed here.

Nope. Ivy League schools haven't done scholarships for football since the '40s and for the rest of their sports since the '50s. If Jones got a scholarship (guessing he was in school in the 60s), he got a need-based scholarship just like anyone else.

Doesn't make RHG's scheme any less played out, though - flash in the pan with some great tools that rested on his laurels. Any coach or coordinator who rests on his laurels and allows his playbook and playcalling to stagnate for more than a single week after the end of a season will be obliterated the next season. There is too much video, too many scouts and too much information available to everyone on what your team does, when it does it and how successful it is at doing it.

Garrett is a bright coordinator but simply too inexperienced to realize how hard he has to work and how dynamic he has to be with his playcalling and coaching.

So... let me see if I have this right...

Every thread (regardless of original topic) must now address all current factions:
1. Fire Jerry (my personal favorite, I think, just from the "let's demand the impossible" pluckiness of it)
2. Fire Wade
3. Fire Garrett
4. Go back in time and hire some other coach (see #1)
5. Cut TO
6. Cut Romo
7. Cut/fire damn near everyone

I think we need a 48-hour rule, and all these "here's what they have to do" threads in the meantime combined into one...because they all end up saying the same things with the same people pushing the same agendas.

I don't think there's a scapegoat whose firing/cutting (or greener-grass hiring, for that matter) magically makes a silk purse out of this team (although if I ever meet Bruce Read, my next post might be from jail). I don't think making knee-jerk moves while the stink of this one is still on you solves anything. Haven't we watched with glee while Snyder hires/fires long enough to not wish the same on ourselves?

As for Romo, I don't find him blameless--and obviously neither does he. So what if he seems a little stoic up there? At the end of a game like that, what do you say? Does showing your anger like a little brat accomplish anything other than giving the media vultures what they want: something to mock? Thank God no reporter is going to comb through this board and publish whatever you all have said to the planet with your name and picture on it.

Folks kill me when they bring up the fact that Jason Garrett went to Princeton.

His schemes are banal and he is clearly in over his head.

Him attending Princeton isn't going to change that.

I am still waiting for the day when Romo mans up and takes responsibility for his poor play, until that day I have no respect for the loser.
