When I saw Romo get smashed on the chin and taken to the ground, I wasn't really worried about him getting back up. I was just worried, that he would lose his composure and ability to play at a high level again. I haven't seen him take a hit quite like that before and while he lay there wincing in pain, I began to wonder how this would affect him.

It didn't...Johnson never entered the game and Romo started firing the ball with added determination and authority. He led the Cowboys to their final score...bloody chin and all. If there were any questions about his toughness, he certainly answered that Sunday to his teammates and the rest of league.

I was proud of him.

"I think that was [Romo's] best game," Witten said. "He showed that he's a tough player by getting back up and completing that next pass ... I just think from executing the game plan and being smart with the ball, it was one of his best games, if not his best."

Honestly I didn't think he was beat up that bad, everyone has got busted up on the football field... Just the nature of the beast, he still my favorite QB in the NFL though!

Hmm... I would think Chin needing 13 stitches is pretty significant injury to not come off the field and continue playing. Its not Emmit's Shoulder Seperation and continue playing variety, but for QB, that was pretty darn good.

Romo is unflappable, has moxy and tough as nails

Redball has schemed for Romo perfectly this year. Our offense is near unstoppable, best we have been since early 2005 and approaching 1992-95 esque in upside and firepower!.

As soon as I saw that shot of him wincing in pain, I thought to myself "great, that'll be on every skins/giants/eagles board known to man."

I would've gotten up too though. Can you imagine the "attention" he got later that evening?

Thats 13 face stitches - probably very tight cosmetically, was probably a small cut.

But yes toughness, he played for Parcells the coach and JJ the owner when Henson was the pedigreed future at Dallas QB. He never blinked

He felt it. It was all over his face. I could tell his finger was bothering him too before they even said it. He just kept battling like the OP said. I'm proud of him too. A lesser player would've been heading to the sidelines.

I will call it something different, and its something that has been apparent from day one for tony. He is a competitor.

I was very proud of the way he got back up, went back to work, and continued to stand tall in the pocket.

I love tony more than most, but you guys are seriously acting like he proved something by playing with a scratch?

let him play injured, then he earns what you guys are handing him

He wasn't emmitt playing with a separated shoulder, dude cut his chin.

Well, it was something more painful than just a cut, he took a helmet to the chin. It was nice that he didn't flinch at pressure is what I think people are saying, not just that he stayed in the game. Plenty of people can stay in the game, that's not a big deal. But to play efficiently without subconciously ducking or hurrying your throws is a good sign.

But yea, I'd also agree it wasn't exactly a "heroic" type of effor either.

He has a little bit of Troy in him :D

:laugh2:

For awhile there he was sporting a bandage on his chin every other week. By the end of his career his chin strap looked like pillow.
