Well that sorta screws up the whole one half vs. the other half. Because he sucked in the Giants game (2nd one) which you included in the first "half" of his season.

66.8 plays per game first 5 games (Carolina to Tampa Bay)
153 pass attempts
45.8% passes

55.4 plays per game the first 5 games (Giants to Detroit)
157 pass attempts
56.7% passes

Ok.. there ya go. Half and Half and they are still pretty much exactly what I said. What else do you have a problem with now?

I do not buy the game tape theory, other wise would it not be pretty common place for first time starting QBs to put up the kind of numbers Romo did last season?

Why didn't Jason Campbell put up Romo like numbers?

I do not know 100% that Romo is the answer or not, but I like the early returns.

I guess we call all rest easier if Romo would have put up an impressive 76.5 rating.

His first 6 games, he had 180 attempts and the last 5, 157. That averages out to 30 attempts a game the first 6, and 31.4 the last 5. The stats don't bear out the Boys put the games on his shoulders, because surely his attempts would go up a lot more. *edited* For clarity purposes, it doesn't show that the Boys put the game on Romo's shoulders moreso in the latter half then in the first half.

initial point. firehak only uses the games Romo played in.

First six games Romo's passes accounted for 45.8 % of the offensive plays.
Last 5 games Romo's passes accounted for 57.1 % of the offensive plays.
refuted.

firehawk350;1544232 said:
How about the first 5? Because you gotta disclude that game because he can't have passed for even 50% of that game. I bet his number is closer to 50% for the first 5 games he started. I don't feel like looking it up, but that game where he had to have closer to 30-35% of the offensive plays probably skews the stats a bit.

Besides, I think that's about average (57%). I'll have to look it up, but that can't be too terribly uncommon, where you have to pass a bit more then half of the time.

firehawk now decides it's not about whether we asked Romo to do more in one half versus the other - it's about the league average.

This has been a lesson in how NOT to construct an argument. Brought to you by the colors burgundy and gold.

I'm actually beginning to wonder about Parcells offensive philosophy, in that when Bledsoe was in there, we couldn't move the ball well. I'm wondering if Romo just flat out bought more time to throw the ball, sending receivers too deep, not enough play making in the short game ie(running backs) not enough successful screens.

I think Peyton could've done wonders with Romo's game, and if we had a running back who could catch a freaking short dump off and get 12 yds a shot, Romo's numbers could be very impressive coming down the stretch.

This is why I'm hoping Garrett brings a touch of creativeness to the offense.

We need running backs getting nice chunks of yardage. We need Rb catching balls, we need way more protection that what either Bledsoe or Romo received. Remember, Bledsoe had a ton of pressure, that pressure doesn't get better cause a new QB's in there.

Now you're comparing me to a eagle fan?

Of all the people on this board you compare me to an eagle fan?

You seriously need to work on your insults. They need a Michael Jackson face lift

When i make a really long, boring thread, thats filled with big words trying to show of my intelligence, only to make myself look like a really ignorant bafoon, about the eagles and cowboys, asking for the "real cowboy" fans to give me their opinions

THEN you can compare me to PT.

Kthx ;)

My impression just from watching the games was that the OLinemen seemed more enthused and fired up when Romo was in there versus when Bledsoe was in there. The body language was very different. If Bledsoe was having a rough game, their body language just gave me the impression of them being frustrated, uninspired, and indifferent. When Romo was in there, they seemed fired up, enthusiastic, inspired, and more dedicated to doing their jobs.

As with many of the rest of the offensive players, they just seemed more into the game and like they "believed" they could do well when Romo was in there.

Like I say, just my impression from watching the games.

Interesting...that's what I thought also...

Bledsoe held the ball way too long, and the big boys got tired trying to hold the line...that would tire them out and that's why I think the team tanked at the end of the season.

When Romo came in...he got rid of the ball faster...
