His mistake was trying to force the ball to Austin. If I saw it correctly once he eluded Mathews he had the entire left side open to run and take time off the clock. That INT was all on Romo. His gun slinging habit reared it's ugly head and bit him.

The narrative for most of the season has been that Garrett had made Romo too cautious. People, both here and in the media, complained that in doing so JG had sacrificed the very thing that made Romo special in the first place. Now many of those same people are ripping Romo for being reckless?

I must say I appreciate the irony.

"We have to get better. I have to do better than that."

How many times have we heard Romo say this in his post-game presser after a loss... I've lost count.

I'm sure he's lost count as to how many media sessions he has done. Eventually after the 1,000th time it's going to becôme redundant and he's just speaking the same thing over and over. I'm sure he doesn't want to talk either, but he's "forced" to do so. And that's not just him, every NFL player speaks that way..

Every time he's said it, it's as many times more than red headed Captain Deflection has ever owned up to his asinine unpreparedness for situational football awareness.

So.. why couldn't we run to the side that wasn't overloaded?

The execution was off. It works and it's a great play...it doesn't and Romo is suddenly dumb.

Romo's mind exceeds his physical ability. I'm not joking about this. I believe and many have pointed how how cerebral Romo is. He put in his time in film room and coaches meetings. He know game situation and what needs to be accomplished. He sees the defense and play development. HOWEVER, his arm can not deliver the good.
Many of his INTs are not true mental mistakes but physical ones. Such as he feel like he can squeeze the ball in tight spots or over top of defenders but end up being intercepted. Unfortunately for Romo, his physical ability will continue to decline. He needs to accept his physical weakness in order not for these INTs to continue.

I see no problem in checking off the run play. Getting blown up for a loss does you no favors the way our D was playing. It was a physical error and not a mental one.

1. There's no guarantee that you're going to lose yards.

2. They could have ran, picked up the first down and now they have a new set of downs to run more time off the clock and force the Packers to use their timeouts.

3. Let's say you get no gain...still, time runs off the clock

It's terrible awareness of the situation. This would be fine if it were 2006, but it's not.

Running into that front is the Lions game all over again. Good teams are aggressive in those situations and go for the throat.

Aggressive play calling has it place and time. That was the wrong spot for it. One needs to understand game situation. We were leader and it was I believe 2nd down. You want to grind out first downs and keep possession. Worse case was to punt and make them drive the length of the field and use up clock. Romo the gunslinger just did it under the heat of the moment and the end result was an INT.

Again...if it works everyone is praising the aggressive play call that helped win the game. It didn't though...so here we are.

Fans are truly fickle.

Why not just tell me what was incorrect in my post? Romo had single coverage on Miles and went for it, just like he has done for years.[/quote
I
um... the pick.

the latest failure is clearly on the defense. Romo carved it in stone.

I mentioned this last week. I said it's time to go back to gun slinger, which he will throw picks. But at least they will score a lot of points, which they did. However, I said that if he can't sling the ball without turning it over, and if he can't play conservative and win, he's just not that good.

I get that, and normally I would agree, but let's be honest: was there even the slightest chance that our D was going to stop GB if they got the ball back trailing by only one score? If not, then trying to make a play to put the game out of reach makes sense.

If Romo just leads Austin, he's gone (if his hammies let him) Elite QBs make that throw. Romo is just off. Accuracy, zip- its gone.

Manning doesn't have any zip on his passes, but he makes due. Romo needs a new QB coach. I don't think Wade Wilson is doing him any favors.

You know if he wouldn't have panicked and threw it behind Miles and actually lead him with the football it would've been a great play. I'm more mad at the throws Romo made today then the plays he ran.
