No, I wouldn't be praising the play call. Not when you can easily get the first down and one of the big goals is to run time off the clock and force Green Bay to use their timeouts.

Romo's first priority was to help close the game out after halftime. We were running *at will* and after we went up 13-3, Romo decided to that this was going to be a passing contest (remember, he has the option to audible to a running play when a pass play is called as well).

It was a terrible call on a series of ball audibles from Romo.

YR

Romo never saw a defensive look that he didnt think he could pass on - too much faith in himself, too little faith in his teammates.

The problem on that play is somebody didn't account for Matthews...

this is confusing.

The original play was a run. Tony audibled to a pass. But the OLine still looks like they are blocking for a run to the right and someone posted that Murray looked shocked he did not get the ball.

Did they audible the play and forget to change the blocking assignment ? Was everyone not on the same page with Romo with the audible that he called ?

This !!

It looks like the other teams have the secret sauce, or the tony romo kyptonite.

Pretty much.

They understand our initial play and the audible.

Force extreme pressure because they know Tony's going to go to where he should but they play that area so tight the execution has to be flawless or a high percentage turnover.

When the pressure is extreme the chances of a flawless pass and timing of it happening is low.

At the end of the game and all the chips are being laid then it's worth for the opposition to take this risk.

Tony always seems to fall into it.

That's why teams even say they are surprised when they face Tony and he doesn't make the mistake that point in the game. I.e the Giants last loss to us.

It's a copy cat league and teams look at games from even last year on how other teams beat us. That last Chicago game looked like last years Seattle game.

Murray didn't look shocked, Murray looked absolutely PO'd. But I think that possession was just the trigger that ignited his yelling. He looked extremely irritated the whole second half, going away from the run totally.

"We have to get better. I have to do better than that."

How many times have we heard Romo say this in his post-game presser after a loss... I've lost count.

I like Romo, but he is what he is. I am quite sick of the "we have to get better" b.s. its soooo stale and repeated.

He's gotten so predictable that two plays prior to his game ending int, I told my wife: romo will throw a pick and finish the debacle.

I saw him yelling - it looked like he was going to scream forever - for a moment i thought he was going to go completely postal and attack someone.

People get upset when the choker label is used, but i bet almost everyone was thinking the same thing as you

This loss was not about one play or playcall. It comes down to the inability to use basic football common sense as a coaching staff and QB. Murray should have been running until he tapped himself out. Then Randle should have gotten the ball. Only then do you take your shots down-field using play-action. We were carrying a double-digit lead for the majority of the 2nd half and Murray was slicing GB up for 4-5 yds a pop even when they loaded the box. It's just STOOPID to be featuring the pass heavily in that game situation. This team is lead by "football dumb" people. We have seen it too many times and it has cost this team numerous wins. The bigger problem is the owner/GM could care less.

I like you man.. but Tony Romo is in fact dumb. He is amazingly athletically gifted and even shows flashes of being elite at times.. very small flashes, but I have seen them. With that said, there is just not much going on up there. We have seen brain fart after brain fart out of that dude. Same mistakes year in and year out. Why don't you just come over to the realist side already? :D

Romo's problem is that he thinks he can still do today what he could do 5 years ago. Mentally he's much more cerebral than he was but his physical limitations have continued to grow over the years.

Listen...I'm all for replacing Romo with someone better. I just don't trust Jerry Jones to do it.

I agree that in that situation he should stick with the run.

I don't think Romo is getting any more cerebral to be honest. He still makes the same type of mistakes he always has. I honestly don't see any change in that aspect. Now, he has been playing more dink and dunk football for most of this year, that is different, but that doesn't take intelligence to do.

With regards to you being all for replacing Romo, we are on the same page there. Also, I don't trust Jerry either! With that said, I'm ready to gamble at it, I would take anything over going 8-8 every year. That is torture. Heck, we don't even get top 10 draft picks that way. We end up close to 20 in the draft... unless Jerry unwisely trades our 2nd round pick to move up and take a CB that they didn't do their home work on. Claiborne was nothing more than a last second option after another team called them and asked if they wanted to trade up. They probably called Les Miles on the spot and just took his word.

I like Romo but he isn't above the team. If replacing him leads to success on the football field so be it. But the entire team needs to be reworked as well because as constructed right now the talent just isn't there.

We all know what problem crops up with that scenario. He has this team 31 million over the cap.

If he threw it 1 foot further in front of Austin, it would have been a TD. There was nobody between Austin and the end zone.

this
that was actually a little behind aystin and that is the only reason it got picked (even then it was an unbelievable play by the CB)

having said this... romo should not have checked out of the run there

i really fear that we are ruining romo's confidence with garrett's horrible coaching

i really really wish romo could have 2-3 years with a real HC/OC

Hell they didn't run much at all that 2nd half. Up by 23 and you run 7 times??????????

funny to see people who have been making excuses for the coaches, and villifying those of us who were poiting out obvious problems, now turning against their messiahs

Yup, this is why when people kept asking me.. "Well if we don't sign Romo, then what should we do?" And I kept saying, trade Romo away for a first round draft pick to a team like KC/Buff, NYJ, Jax, etc, sign Alex Smith (Just temporary, to keep us somewhat competitive), and slowly start rebuilding the team. Ware was trade-able, Spencer was trade-able, and a few others as well. The problem is, we will keep them until they are all worthless and not get anything good out of them. We keep thinking these guys are going to win it for us but it couldn't be further from the truth. The team is just bad all around.

This always happens and they usually don't admit they are wrong, but it is all good, several people that used to disagree with me and even vilify me, now realize, I did in fact know what I was talking about all along. They then end up having more respect for me, and I respect them as well for coming around and not continuing to be blind to the obvious. The fact is, we were all blind at one time. For example, I loved me some Romo from 2006-2009.

When speaking of our defense, it is not possible to have "too little faith" in them.
