Romo played one heck of a game...
Romo had a chance to drive down the field with the game tied and win...
Romo threw an interception.
That interception is on him.

LOL, ..Do you even watch the games?

When it is Romo's fault, I will be the first to say so, .. like the 2nd Skins game in Washington at the end of 2012. Bad decision, even worse pass. That's on him.

But you can't use the 2013 Bronco's game, nor that last pass to find fault with Romo. His foot was stepped on as he threw, his pocket was getting pushed back into him, and his receiver ran the wrong route allowing the defense to under cut the pass. That could have happened to any QB.

So you are saying that because he didn't put over 50 points on the board that the loss is in him. SMH

Find another game, .. a different INT, .. and I may agree with you. But not that pass, not that game.

It wasn't one bad decision, it was multiple bad decisions. He threw 3 interceptions in that game that were all his fault. Not just 1.

But you can't use the 2013 Bronco's game, nor that last pass to find fault with Romo. His foot was stepped on as he threw, his pocket was getting pushed back into him, and his receiver ran the wrong route allowing the defense to under cut the pass. That could have happened to any QB.

Those are all excuses. He had a wide open RB with no defender within 7 yards of. Such an easy check down but instead he threw into coverage. Yes, his foot was stepped on BEFORE he let the ball go.

So you are saying that because he didn't put over 50 points on the board that the loss is in him. SMH

I never saw him say that the loss was all on Romo. He just stated the facts. Game tied, we had the ball and a chance to win, and Romo threw an interception. That doesn't put the whole loss on Romo but he does get some blame for sure.

Hey, I was just pointing out that the defense did in fact make a stop, that's all. Not bashing Romo.
I would be lying if I said you bashed Romo in that particular post within this thread. lol. Still the irony is dripping when considering how one of Romo's biggest critics uses a Peyton Manning error within the context of said correction. It could lead to a conclusion that all good quarterbacks are prone to throwing untimely interceptions.

But nevermind that sort of thing. Back to the Romo bash. :)

You are correct but the pressure Is not equal.

There's pressure in every single game of the NFL. That's part of what makes the 16 game season so great. Beer-gut fans sitting in their chairs saying there's more pressure in this pressure-packed game than in this other pressure-packed game is cute, though.

Those aren't excuses, .. to quote you, 'I was just stating the facts'.
When he started to deliver the pass, the receiver was open, and his pocket was intact. How would he know that as he delivered the ball the pocket would collapse, getting his foot stepped on, and the receiver would run up field instead of across the field?

Why would he be looking for a check down pass when he had a guy open 20 yards downfield?

Your mistake here is you picked the wrong pass, the wrong game to bash Romo. You picked a game where he threw for over 500 yards, and put 48 points on the board to find fault.
And picked out a pass where he was hit as he threw to blame him for.

Ridiculous.

Surely you can see that if everyone else played their position as well as Romo has, we would not be 8-8 all of the time.

Is he perfect? NO ... but none of them are.

Yeah and free throws In the first quarter of a game is the same as free throws with 1 second left in the game and down by 2 or a field goal to put the team up 3-0 on the first drive is the same as being down 28-27 with 1 second left in the fourth. Same pressure, I get ya.

It would appear Romo has also thrown the most regular season 4th-quarter TDs 2007-2013 with 62 of them... (blog post that can be accessed on the team's page at SI.com.)

Why would he be looking for a check down pass when he had a guy open 20 yards downfield?

Because he could have picked up the first down with a safer pass to a wide open RB that was 5 yards away? If the defense is going to to give you that, you take it every time. There was no rush to get the ball further down field. Romo had plenty of time on the clock to work with and timeouts. Maybe his receiver wasn't as open as he thought and it was a tight window to fit the ball into?

Your mistake here is you picked the wrong pass, the wrong game to bash Romo. You picked a game where he threw for over 500 yards, and put 48 points on the board to find fault. And picked out a pass where he was hit as he threw to blame him for.

Well, you are 50% right. I only pointed out the interception was his fault, not the whole game. Your emotions are getting the better of you. Also, did Romo put 48 points in the board or did the team put 48 points on the board?

Surely you can see that if everyone else played their position as well as Romo has, we would not be 8-8 all of the time.

No, I think it is a team effort that gets them to 8-8 every year. Romo included.

But that's the thing, those free throws and field goals do COUNT the same, regardless of when they happen. The fact that you are even talking about "pressure", as if it can be quantified, or if it even exists at all, shows how much ESPN has permeated your brain. Stop trying to get in people's heads and stay on the couch where you belong.

I know that wasn't for me but I'll chime in some.

I think stationary stuff where you sit there and have time to think--like putting on the 18th, free throws with one second, FGs with time running out...those are much more game-time sensitive.

Active things like hitting a jump shot, chasing down a volley in tennis, passing or catching a football during an active play....probably not so much. Maybe a tiny bit if at all.

Assuming you've played sports, you'll probably know that when you are in the heat of a game (not sitting still thinking about every detail, but in the real heat of it) you don't stop and stress out about whether or not this is a TV game or win or go home game. It just doesn't work that way.
ALL athletes will tell you this. In the heat of battle, you don't stop and think about that stuff.

But yes, a FG, free throw, or final putt...that would be different.

I do think if you know you have to do something to win the game you may step out of character sometimes and take risks that maybe should not be taking....at least sometimes.
And I do think Romo is guilty of trying to do to much sometimes....usually because he feels if the risk is not taken then we lose the game. Those choices are not always the right ones though.
And, not that you said it, but that it far, FAR from "choking". Not at all the same.

Hey, last year even Brady had three picks in the final minutes of the 4th qtr , with two ending in losses. He was pressing and trying to get something done, not choking.

Or maybe sometimes, the defender actually makes a great play. Again it's not a free throw or a put; there is a defense out there.

If we watch very game of every QB, I think you'll be surprised at how often wild things happen when a team is pressing to pull out a win.

No NFL QB looks for the 5 yd dump off pass first. If they can't find anyone open, and are running out of time in the pocket, .. then they look for the back out of the backfield. They are looking to make a play downfield first if they can. As was Romo that pass, .. and as he always is.

Your emotions are getting the better of you. Also, did Romo put 48 points in the board or did the team put 48 points on the board?

I'm not a very emotional guy, and my emotions have nolthing to do with this here. I'm just trying to get you to understand that if you want your opinion of Romo to be taken seriously, then you have to give credit where due, and then you can find fault when/if it is there.

If you find fault and bash everything, nobody will listen. Which is about where you are right now.

Just trying to help. LOL

I can find fault with Romo, .. but I give him credit where it's due.
The thing is, ..he does good way more than he screws up. IMO.

He's not the reason that we are 8-8 all the time.

First of all we are all "on the couch" if we are not playing in the NFL. Secondly, if you think athletes don't understand pressure situations then you shouldn't even talk sports anymore because those are the ones that have separated the "greats" from the "goods". MJ wouldn't be MJ, Montana wouldn't be Montana, without doing what they did in the closing minutes of games. Kirk Gibson's famous home run occurred in the, you guessed it, bottom of the 9th, in the business world they call it closing some are great at it others not so much.

I do agree, when you have time to think you can allow the pressure of the moment to creep in. I think in football that time to think occurs when you are on the sidelines after the other team has just taken the lead or in between plays.

100% pure nonsense. It even reads like an ESPN commercial. Montana was great because he was great for 60 minutes, not 1 of them (which is easily proven by his numbers). Please stop embarrassing yourself.

So you think a free throw in the first quarter is the same as one to tie a game with 1 second left is the same, and I am embarrassing myself. Gimme a break.

No, I know that I have no idea what the difference is, or if it even exists, since I am sitting in the couch with a beer. So I will concentrate on what I do know, which is that they both count one point, and not worry about ESPN dramatic nonsense about how much pressure some overpaid, carefree athlete is feeling.
