Romo should have been benched when leading 35-7

The Cowboys took a 35-7 lead with only a little over seventeen minutes remaining. This would have been a great time to let Romo rest and have Weeden hand the ball off repeatedly to Randle, Dunbar, Murray, etc. Instead, the Cowboys kept Romo in, potentially risking needless injury, not to mention not letting him get more rest.

For those who say, "But the Bears came back!" - first of all, that's the fault of the Cowboys' defense, not the offense. Second, a benched Romo could have been reinserted back into the game anytime he was needed to. Third, Escobar should have caught that onsides kick.
Finally, if the Cowboys can't protect a 28-point lead against one of the worse teams in the NFC for 17 minutes of play with a backup QB, then we may not be a playoff team at all.

Offense settled for FGs instead of TDs with Romo in the game. If Weeden were in there, the Bears probably don't go onside after they cut it to ten points and try to make Weeden drive the field, basically making us put Romo back in anyway.

this defense does not allow for any breathing room with this team. that's two games now that romo should have not had to play in the fourth quarter. the bears and Jacksonville games should have been easy wins but were not.

If it was 35-7 with 6 minutes, maybe.
Not 35-7 with entire quarter remaining.
No, not with this defense.

Yes, not with this D.

Better question is that why not have Randle play a series or two? I understand that Murray was doing great but Randle made most of his opportunities in that one carry as well. I really want the coach to trust a good rotation to keep both fresh.

Negative.

Romo is a "ride or die" guy

I also have a problem there too. murray needs a rest sometime. randle looked good on that only carry he had. I also do understand that murray is better at pass blocking and with romo not being that mobile anymore one slip up on pass protection could mean th e end of season for him. it almost happened against Washington.

Could have happened earlier if Escobar wouldn't have let that onside kick go through his hands and lead to a bears quick score

Romo threw one pass in the last 20 mins of game time...so he was essentially sitting on bench.. He didn't do anything on the field after that point

And all of your points make no sense...awful reasoning all the way around
