I think he probably didn't know until he got out there and once he got out there, he didn't want to come out. That's when a coach needs to make a call. On this team, I am not sure that we have a coach who would or even could make that call. IDK?

Plus, you probably shouldn't take those shots like they're Pez.

No, this I didn't see. I saw a lot of blitz but not run blitz. We got no push from the center of our line on Poe. He controlled the line. That's what I saw but then again, if you only run the ball 12 times, your really not even trying to wear him down. Who knows but that had we ran the ball 20 to 25 times, Poe is not less effective in the 4th Quarter.

Well your wrong about this just like your wrong about romo not being good in the third qtr.

They were in single high safety a ton when they had us backed up.

In your opinion. I just finished watching the game again and I have to say that I stand by my statements. Single high has nothing at all to do with playing run with 8 in the box or blitzing.

You don't draft a top QB and let him ride the bench anymore.

Probably should. Cam Newton probably could've benefited from it as could've Gabbert, Weeden, Locker and Ponder. Wilson, Kap and Luck are the minority not the standard. And don't look now but RGIII doesn't look to good. Though he's clearly out there hurt.

The explanation was they were stacking the line of scrimmage and Murray showed zero ability to run to daylight or break a tackle. He twice ran directly into the back if a lineman a la Julius jones.

Having starting field position inside the ten 4 times did not help either.

theebs, did you watch the seattle game last night?
do you think SF was ok with seattle running the ball or were they trying to stop them?
did that stop seattle from running the ball even though their LT was out and SF has one of the best run stopping defenses in the NFL?

it is about talent, playcalling, execution, and attitude

we are lacking on many of these fronts

I understand, Unfortunately I don't have any fantasy that we are seattle running the ball.

The better running teams don't fear 7 and 8 in the box, they attack and make big plays out of it.

It sucks but we are not on that level. We just simply do not run the ball well at all, or enough.

We don't make teams pay for selling out on the run either. As if we don't have a plethora of weapons to keep teams honest.

Teams bite down on our run game when we come out in these running formations and zone left or zone right.

Just play action off of it. Keep doing that and these teams will stay on their heels and not over pursuit.

They probably think we need to but also probably understand we don't.

Romo said a number of times this offseason in interviews that its not that they don't want to run the ball its that if they keep doing it and get nothing then it is hurting the team.

So that is the mindset of the offense, staff and players I imagine. Its just like peyton manning, had he been backed up yesterday at the 10 for 5 posessions he would definitely try and throw his way out of there when they are in single high safety.

We just need to get everyone healthy and going.

We do have Orton. Put him in. See if he can do anything. Nothing to lose except the game!

Up until the point where Dunbar fumbled Romo was 23 for 27 for 226 yards with 1 Touchdown. At that point we had 16 rushes for 37 yards (2.3 per carry). I don't think putting in Kyle Orton is the answer by any stretch of the imagination.

And then he started playing poorly & the wheels fell off. The question asked in the thread is that something was wrong with Tony & he wasn't 100%. If that's so & his play is hurting the team because he's not healthy you put in the healthy guy & see what he can do. Of course it won't change the fact that our running game is MIA.

There were a lot of reasons they lost yest. Tony's play as the game progressed declined I thought. Dez even ended up hurting them.

The first drive was the fumble, which was a bad decision but certainly not one you pull your quarterback for, when he's showed solid decision making otherwise in the game. The drive after that was a 3 and out, and the drive after that was the field goal. That's not bench-the-quarterback production as far as hurting a team goes.

IMO, he was not the same after his scramble in the fourth qtr.

Also, babe said in the pregame that romo had a terrible weak if practice and was not right going into this game.

So the team knew their was limitations.

Have to run the ball better, I wish Dunbar would have been given a chance to run the ball coming out of the second half. I hope that is the plan going forward.

Has anyone said anything about what Babe said about Tony during the game? Babe said that Tony's footwork wasn't right. He said that when Tony would throw to the left, instead of pointing his feet at the receivers, Tony would point his feet out, which would make the ball do weird things. Babe mentioned this several times during the game, especially in the fourth quarter. Was this due to his ribs? His back? I don't know.

Just thought I'd mention it.

That is right, Tona, have a rough day and blame the ribs or an injury du jour..
It seems like an excuse right out of the Williams' sisters and Tiger Woods' playbook: If you are brilliant chalk it up to your mastery of the game. If you half a bad day, blame it on an injury.

Tona, if you are hurting, recuse yourself from the game and don't give us your substandard play that leads to a loss.

OK, I'll duck because of the many Romo lovers here.

A team that needs to draft guys like Gabbert and Ponder top 15 can't afford to wait a year. People think because it worked wonderful for the Packers they know the secret recipe to creating an elite QB.
