"So there has to be some other reason why Parcells thinks it's time to finally find out about Romo, and why two independent parties have seen fit to say to me, don't be surprised if Romo gets an extended opportunity to start this season, Drew Bledsoe might have a hard time regaining his job."

What do you guys think of the above. Youve got to feel for Bledsoe if it happens !

It's hard to imagine a guy that has never played in a regular season game, being able to unseat a great veteren. If that happens, then either we've found a Tom Brady, or Bledsoe is not that great.

I think there are some who are doing wishful thinking if they think Romo will beat out Bledsoe for this season. Personally I think giving Romo extended playing time will help this team determine what they have in Romo and his future with this club and that is hard to do when your trying to split snaps with 3 other QB's.

I think Parcells likes to light a fire under Bledsoe's butt to help motivate him. Nothing wrong with a bit if queaziness in camp!

There is NO WAY we are going SuperBowl or bust and not riding the Bledsoe/TO and company bus....

Romo has never started a game in NFL. He will not lead this team... yet... not this year... unless Bledsoe gets slobbernocked

If not mistaken this is Romo last year in his contract. I don't think his extended time has anything to do with Bledsoe I think this has everything to do with Romo staying in Dallas or not. All any player can ask for is a chance and Romo is getting his now what he does with this chance will determine his future with the club.

Some of you guys AMAZE me.

So Parcells compares Romo to guys like Jeff Rutledge and Matt Cavanaugh, two career journeyman, back-up QBs, and he tells everyone that it's time to see if Romo can step up and be what those guys were and now we are discussing the question of whether Romo can beat out Drew Bledsoe?

The lack of respect for the calibre of QB Bledsoe still is today and the things Bledsoe has accomplished as an NFL QB is astounding!

Bledsoe is coming off the best year he's had in the last several years, he is in the TOP 7 ALL-TIME in NFL passing yardage, (and will probably move into the TOP 5) and he is currently 5TH ALL-TIME in passing completions, but we are discussing whether Tony Romo can beat him out?!

I would love to hear that question asked of Parcells in one of his daily PCs. :lmao:

This is what I was talking. You have a guy in Bledsoe who was dominating at times, especially when the offensive line was in tact, and unless I missed something in a great game that I forgot to watch the last couple of years, I've never seen Romo do anything on the field to make me believe he can beat out Bledsoe.... This is pure:laugh1: :lmao2: :lmao:

We were told earlier, prior to camp starting, that Romo would get a good long look this year, lots of snaps, because he was in a contract year. I don't understand all the conclusion drawing. Romo will either be the back up, long term or sign with someone else. This will likely represent a decent amount of money. You better find out what you have before you give him a long term contract. IMO, this doesn't say anything about Bledsoe and his standing with the team or Henson and his. It says everything about Romo and his future with the team.

I can't see it happening, Bledsoe is a proven vet. I want to see what Romo can do in preseason.

He will get that long look in training camp - but I do think the question should have at least been asked - "Does Romo have a chance to unseat Bledsoe for the starting spot?" That is responsible journalism, and seemed to be the next logical question after Parcells spoke highly of him. I don't know why it wasn't asked.

I think that's what Mick's quote is actually saying. If Bledsoe is *out* and Romo is forced onto the field, don't be surprised if Romo stays there.

That's what everyone is discussing, right? Mick's quote above is not worded well.

Simply because no reporter wants to subject him/herself to the abuse such a ridiculous question would bring.

Listening and watching the PC yesterday - it didn't feel ridiculous in the sequence.
