Romo was one less INT and one less Crayton TD

from throwing for about 300 yards in one half....

I see upside in this kid if we could limit his poor decisions.

What I am saying is that.... he threw a nice long pass to Crayton for a TD. So if had one more of those and if we could take back that last INT. His total yardage would be around 300.

What concerns me is that he IS kinda Favre-like....with that gunslinger attitude, which can be good at times, however, it took Favre a LONG time before he figured somethings out. I don't know if I could handle the guy throwing INT's at the rate that Favre did when he first started out.

Shoot, yesterday coulda been just one of those days for him....

I know you're trying to look on the bright side, but remember Vinny T put up some big yardage games in blowout losses too. I don't care about the yardage so much, I just want to see wins. If Romo can just do what Quincy did--on the field.

Too bad Romo doesn't have that cake schedule we faced with Quincy.

Yes, and he threw for exactly 31 yards and an INT when the game was less than a 3 possession affair. All the rest of the yardage, TDs and INT's were essentially during garbage time.

Agreed.

Upside is that he's got good escapability. He's got a great release.

But yeah, I remember when we'd play the Packers in the playoffs and ya just KNEW Favre was gonna toss a couple of game breaking INT's

Time will tell, I guess.

Some folks act like a game that is getting out of hand is easier for a QB. It's not at all, and that's exactly why we never saw Romo is other blowouts going back to last year...

When the team was down big, those defenders were coming after the QB even harder, and the DBs were all trying to take away all of the windows...Romo was still doing some good things.

Agreed. If nothing else... he extends the plays that Drew was getting hammered on.

Yes. In some cases extending it long enough to throw an INT.

Yes, like Drew got sacked on every play.

Just trying to inject some reality here. I like Romo. I really do. But when a guy throws 3 picks in a game he shouldn't get this sort of love. Let's at least make him earn it.

Nice post? Yeah -- that coming from the guy who starts the "if only Romo didn't throw so many INTs and threw more long TDs he would have had a huge game" thread. Nice one.

It was his first real action for the most part. Veteran QB's make the same mistakes he made last night. When a QB is slinging it to get some points... the stuff that happened last night.. happens.

BTW... I didnt write "if he didnt throw SO MANY.." - I was merely pointing out that he got some yardage IN HIS FIRST full half of a game.

Where in your first post did you inject some reality by posting what you posted??

Reality = he threw 3 picks in a half. That sucks. No what if he did x, y, or z there. He scored 14 points but had turnovers that led to 17. Reality.

Wow... his first action... cant lay it all on him....

1st INT was a tip
2nd INT was dumb rookie mistake and they were holding JJ
3rd INT was not having timing down... we have seen the BEST QB's throw that INT...

its ok... go back to enjoying your nice warm beer:laugh2:

I t took Favre three years to become elite. In 1994 he had 33 tds and 14 ints. If Romo can get that production in his third year as a starter, then everybody should be happy here.

also Favre still led green Bay to winning records his first two years as a starter and a playoff win in his second year.

I haven't been high on Romo since he's been here.

I will say this though.....

There was good and bad, just like BP said. I saw a young QB trying to fit some balls in where he had no business throwing the ball to. I also saw a lot of accuracy......scratch that, a ton of accuracy.

The thing that scares me is his willingness to throw into tight windows. We've all heard that his "Gunslinger Mentality" is his worst attribute, and I saw it last night.

There were defintely things to build on, but there are also some things that could really hurt us in the long run.

Also, we've seen BP sit his QB for a half and re-insert his guy over a lot less than 3 ints(see the bears game two years ago).

I hope Bledsoe continues to sit. The season is a goner, imo....but we need to move ni another direction.

and David Carr was the top rated QB in the league because of throwing in garbage time.
