I didnt see any mention of his status?

How long is he out? Broken collar bone right?

Yeah.

He'll be out for a minimum of 6 weeks. Likely 8.

He won't be 100% until next year IMO. Collarbone injuries can linger for a very long time.

Initial report per Jerry was 6-8 weeks.

That's putting it lightly. You can recover from a broken collarbone in that time, but not when you are playing a contact sport right after.

I think it's a season-ender; if not, what's the point of him coming back for two games at the end of the season?

There is no point, especially if he re-breaks it, and you know teams will be trying to hurt him.

Shut him down for the year, start scouting the draft heavily for Top 10 talent.

I am kind of torn about putting him on IR because even if he can only come back for the last two games it will help him get used to it again so the lay off after the season is not so bad.

Yep, put him on IR.

Time to start playing the young guns to see what we have in them for next year.

I'm not sure throwing McGee out to the wolves right now is the best thing. Although I do think giving him some playing time is important in this situation.

it is going to depend on the break. Slow healing Troy Aikman came back after missing 5 games. But honestly, you talk about 8 weeks and you have to ask why we are going to keep him on the active roster

young guns like Kitna?

you don't throw McGee out there simply because you don't want to squeeze off the development of guys like Dez in this offense. McGee may develop but he'd be all dink and dunk this year

True, but they don't know the true extent of the injury until the diagnose it fully today. Steve Young was saying if he dislocated it as well as a break, the time out will be longer.

You might end up seeing him on IR anyway.

I believe a doctor in the "Thank you Gronk" thread was telling us last night that Romo was in critical condition at the Fort Worth Hospital, and that - while they are hopeful he will live - he may never walk again.

Totally depends on the break. I had one last summer that took 2 months to heal, but a friend had a horrible one that was re-set and pinned, took about 2x that time to mend.

Lmao...sounds like good read.

I thought he looked a little pale on the sidelines.

Gives him time to start studying and learning new possible offenses,etc...

Probably out for most of the season. The good news is it's on his non-throwing side. It won't affect him at all when he comes back. At least not physically. He may still be mentally scared from years behind this line.

That's an interesting take, but I'd be tempted to go with McGee anyway.

Maybe not next week or even the week after, but within the next 4 games.

It isn't unusual these days for rookie QBs to start. McGee should be ready to play o.k. by now. If he isn't, he shouldn't be on the roster.

And with some playing time, maybe McGee develops beyond dink and dunk.

It isn't like there is much to lose at this point.

I don't think throwing McGee to the wolves behind our O-line is a good idea. Don't really want to set him back. But depending on situations we probably should work him in late in games. If he does well, then maybe later in the season give him more time.

No IR for Romo. Not a chance. It makes no sense. The roster spot isn't worth it and this team needs all the hope it can get.

Romo goes to IR after we are eliminated from the playoffs.
