Romo's amazing INT/Pass attempt rate.

Nice stats for Romo.

Too bad he's a bum.

At least according to some on this board he is.

No joke.

At least one-third of the posters wanted him gone back in September. The chat room during that Giants game was brutal.

There is a lot to like about this team and Romo is at the top of the list. He makes this Dallas head coaching job extremely attractive.

Romo is not making those careless mistakes because he has grown as a QB.. He finally gets it and has taken control of the leadership of this team.. Romo takes what the defense gives him and doesn't force things anymore like he would do in previous years. He also has gotten better with his playaction and his ability to move defenders with his eyes. He is using his pump fake a lot as well. Romo has matured as a QB.

Romo's YPA is not down from previous years. There is no "he's been more conservative" trend going on. You'd see the drop in YPA if the check downs became more frequent; it'd look closer to a Jason Campbell type YPA.

YPA by season:

2006: 8.6
2007: 8.1
2008: 7.7
2009: 8.1

Excellent point, hairic. Anything over 8 ypa is considered fantastic. You can see that Romo has been tremendously productive in each of his four seasons as a starter.

I know this is about INTs.....but Romo should have more TDs...Roy has dropped like 3-4 this season. Hurd dropped 1. Austin dropped 1-2. I believe another player dropped one as well. That is 5-6 more TDs that Romo should have.

As far as INTS go, he could have had a lot more....thankfully defenses have suffered from the dropsies against us. Last night Romo almost threw an INT, when IMO, he could have run the ball and gained 5-10 yds.

I like his decision making this season. He seems to be in full control of the offense. He is playing smarter and far more efficient. I just wish he wouldn't cut that play clock so close to 0.

Romo has thrown 7 interceptions on 478 attempts. He throws an int every 1.4% of attempts for the season.

Romo ... 7 INTs /478 attempts = 1.4%

A. Rogers ... 7 INTs/444 attempts = 1.5%
P. Rivers ... 7 INTs/406 attempts = 1.7%
T. Brady ... 11 INTS/490 attempts = 2.2%
D. Brees ... 11 INTS/477 attempts = 2.3%
B. Roethlesberger ... 11 INTS/400 attempts = 2.75%
P. Manning ... 15 INTS/532 attempts = 2.8%

Talk to me in December.

I got tired of defending Romo on this board last year. Some people you will never convince and I really don't care anymore. I am not going to argue it anymore. I have loved watching Romo play since that first day versus NY when he came in for Bledsoe.

Because of the great things he does in the pocket and avoiding the rush and making great plays he is a joy to watch play the game. Besides that he just makes play after play and he has since 2006.

How anyone could complain about him even though he had the turnovers in prior years is beyond me. Without him this team would struggle to reach .500every year with the Oline protection he gets.

Romo has definitely acquitted himself very well this year. When I say acquit you all know what I mean... He has answered the naysayers (like myself last year) and some. The guy is playing lights out right now and has truly become that focused leader we all enjoy seeing at the helm of our favorite team.

To Romo:

Here is the possible downside, for discussion - has his willingness and effort to protect the ball over the last 5 games, which we all think is good, perhaps led to maybe too low a level of risktaking, which has led to fewer downfield throws and some of the lack of offense over this same period? Lets be honest, other than against the Saints, we've looked offensively anemic. So, do we maybe want to raise our level of risk a little in order to possibly raise our level of reward alot?

Discuss...
The problem with scoring lately hasn't been with Romo's level of risktaking. It's been with our redzone offense.

Because you can throw the ball 50 times, complete 1 for 50 yards and have a YPC of 50 yards, which looks fantastic, and a YPA of 1 yard, which reflects the actual results.

YPA and YPC are both taken into account (directly or indirectly) in QB rating.

It's about a player growing up and being the best he can be. All fans surely want that. Some express their desires in that regard.

I have been very harsh on Romo. My main focus was his ball security.

This season he has matured and is expanding his game to include making better decisions and protecting the ball.

I don't believe any player from Staubach to Folk doesn't have areas they can improve regardless of their stature with the organization which should not preclude them from scrutiny.

Romo has fulfilled my wish list.

I have one more, Tony. It involves a trophy named after Vince Lombardi.

No, it is about fans being patient and appreciative of what they have instead of bashing the negative aspects even though we would all like to see improvement in those areas.

Some people just have to act like he is a bum because of the negative when he was also producing all the positives.

Also, a lot of that bashing came when the guy was recovering from a broken hand.
You guys have no excuse for your incessant bashing because the guy has been incredible and sure he has areas to improve on but you guys were not patient enough and wanted to bash him in the process instead of enjoying what you did have!!!!!!!!!

So did you bash Carpenter? Do you bash Williams?

Where is your patience for those guys?

I buy the products. I support the team financially.

I think I can voice my opinion on any of the players. If you are so sensitive that my words cause you pain you have two choices.

1. Don't read them.

2. Debate me on the issues.

I have yet to understand why it is that being a fan means you cannot voice skepticism until results show otherwise.

Because there were a great deal of fans and press that made similar comments about Aikman his first couple of years.

Come on man, I know you are not saying that fans should not voice their displeasure if a player consistently make mistakes.

I would be willing to bet the ranch (if I owned one) that there are some Vikings fans at least mildly criticizing Peterson's fumble problems.

Don't get too caught up with what aikmerv said. It's typically what happens if/when a player finally comes through. Those of us that voiced our frustration are suddenly seen as impatient, counterproductive, scum, base people, bottom fish, hungry puppies, lowest common denominators, riffraff, slop suckers, cantankerous, petulant, anemic, debilitated, decrepit, delicate, effete, enervated, exhausted, faint, feeble, flaccid, flimsy, forceless, fragile, frail, hesitant, impuissant, infirm, insubstantial, irresolute, lackadaisical, languid, languorous, limp, makeshift, out of gas, powerless, prostrate, puny, rickety, rocky, rotten, senile, shaky, sickly, sluggish, spent, spindly, supine, tender, torpid, uncertain, undependable, unsound, unsteady, unsubstantial, wasted, wavering, weakened, weakly, wobbly, etc etc. I'm sure I missed something.

I have 3 words for the past Romo critizism on this board:

"Over the top"
