One thing I found particularly interesting from seeing T.O. wired on NFL.com...
"Dude, you underthrew me."
He says that to Romo while Romo is mocking him. Romo, of course, is not offended in the least and starts his reply with, "I know, but.." to which T.O. replies that he knows he messed up, and he owes him one.
It's extremely light... no conflict, nothing confrontational in the least.
Why is this of particular interest?
If you read T.O.'s latest book like I did, you'll remember that the fall-out with Donovan McNabb started during an Eagles game in which T.O. was ignored on a deep route in which he was the #1 option. He wondered if McNabb avoided throwing to him because he was tired of sharing the spotlight with T.O.
Well according to T.O., after the play he gets back into the huddle, and calmly says to McNabb...
"Dude, you missed me."
McNabb responding by cussing him out ("Shut the **** up!") before yelling that it's HIS huddle. That was the exchange that led to the end of their relationship.
If you believe T.O.'s rendition of that story... isn't that just a perfect contrast of the personality differences between McNabb and Romo?
One player was on edge and snapped back, unable to take any semblance of criticism from a teammate...
The other is far too confident and laid back to be offended by the criticism, and realizes that constructive criticism from your teammates can help you all get back on the same page.
Tony's the man.
