Romo's confidence/personality compared to McNabb's...

One thing I found particularly interesting from seeing T.O. wired on NFL.com...

"Dude, you underthrew me."

He says that to Romo while Romo is mocking him. Romo, of course, is not offended in the least and starts his reply with, "I know, but.." to which T.O. replies that he knows he messed up, and he owes him one.

It's extremely light... no conflict, nothing confrontational in the least.

Why is this of particular interest?

If you read T.O.'s latest book like I did, you'll remember that the fall-out with Donovan McNabb started during an Eagles game in which T.O. was ignored on a deep route in which he was the #1 option. He wondered if McNabb avoided throwing to him because he was tired of sharing the spotlight with T.O.

Well according to T.O., after the play he gets back into the huddle, and calmly says to McNabb...

"Dude, you missed me."

McNabb responding by cussing him out ("Shut the **** up!") before yelling that it's HIS huddle. That was the exchange that led to the end of their relationship.

If you believe T.O.'s rendition of that story... isn't that just a perfect contrast of the personality differences between McNabb and Romo?

One player was on edge and snapped back, unable to take any semblance of criticism from a teammate...

The other is far too confident and laid back to be offended by the criticism, and realizes that constructive criticism from your teammates can help you all get back on the same page.

Tony's the man.

McPunk is nothing...! He was good during the real bad days of the NFCE and the NFC as a whole...but now that things are turning around, he shows what he is really made of...nothing.

On the other hand, to stick up for McFlunk, if he got out of the dump up there and went to another city, say Chicago, he might turn it around...but even then I don't know...he's to much of a crybaby, momma and daddys boy!

Ried should get out of that city too before he dies of a freaking heart attack! I'm serious, he does not look good at all...

Go find a eagle board...the majority of them are turning against both McPuke and Reid...pretty sad, however, what would you expect?

By the way...where are our good eagle fans that like to "dialogue" with us? Do they only want to "dialogue" when the times are good?

Remember Tony is a white QB so he is under more pressure. You know since blacks are athletes and white men cannot scramble.

I want to see Tony and TO marching up and down the sideline. That would be funny.

You know what would be a riot?

If Romo was to scramble into the endzone for a TD against the eagles...he does the Moon Walk!

Acutally, I would like to see them do that as a TD celebration when they play Philthy.

Yeh they'll probably get flagged for it but I think it would be well worth it.

McNabb is McNabb, Romo is Romo. Romo is looking pretty darn good for his 16th or whatever career start. McNabb however, has been one of the top 5 QB's in the league for years. Let's not pretend this guy hasn't dusted us plenty in the past.

I doubt Romo would be up to disparaging another team, he's all about having good, clean, sportsmanlike fun, that's just in his nature, he's a good-natured guy

I'm siding with McNabb on this one. Its HIS huddle. Everyone else should always Shut the **** up when their in the huddle.

I hate the eagles more than anything, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for McNabb.

But even if it wasn't mcnabb, its ALWAYS the qb's huddle. Anyone who has ever played football knows that.

This isn't always true at all. I played for 14yrs and QB also, and yes it was my huddle but I always communicated with my recievers in that huddle. If they were open and I missed them, I damn sure want them to tell me that so I can look for it again. Again, yes, its the QB's huddle but its not off limits to communication.. IMHO I think McFlabb was extremely jealous of TO the same way he was of Garcia...

Agree it is the QB's huddle but the atmosphere should allow the WRs & others to pass along info to help on routes, plays, etc. Seem to me that Irvin frequently told Aikman that he thought he could get open on this or that particular play, etc.

I just think McNabb is a control freak (usually means he's got problem areas elsewhere in his life). Maybe the way he was treated when Eagles drafted him effected his psyche or else he has some kind of complex. Just seems to me he feels threatened and must be the player whose in control of his team. But it's not his team so much as it belongs to all the players.

I just think McNabb can't handle anyone sharing the spotlight with him. After all who do they have on his team who takes the spotlight off him. First, TO. Then went McNabb went down it was Garcia who more then took his place and lead the team to the playoffs with the great play of the other players.

Finally, and this might sound petty. But can't help but notice that whenever the Eagles leave their tunnel to come onto the field, McNabb leads them. Recently saw film of the Cowboys coming on the field and they were lead by several players wearing 50s numbers. Romo certainly was in the front yet he's still an elected captain. I just think Romo doesn't emotionally have that kind of need -- to be the player in charge. He doesn't view it as HIS team but rather the Cowboys which includes all the players. I just think he has a healthy and unflappable view of things where McNabb can't deal with something unless he's in control.
