Romo's Monday Presser

We have a much better offense than they do. I don't even know who their receivers are.
Anywho, Romo didn't do anything in this PC to goad them to do anything, not sure where you picked that up. PC isn't really worth listening to at all really.

Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress. Both former Superbowl MVP's.

Jets found a way to make it to the AFC Championship game they clearly have proven that are a contending team. I do think the Cowboys can win but there is nothing easy about the Jets

If there was ever a game this season where nobody should say "the Cowboys should win" it is this one.

* At New York on 9/11
* vs a possible Super Bowl contending team
* vs an emotionally charged team and crowd (emotions and crowd noise help the defenses > offenses obviously)
* 1st game for inexperienced line
* 1st game for defense learning a complicated, new system

The deck is really stacked aganst us.

Agreed. In fact outside of games at New England and Philly, this is probably one of the toughest games on the schedule. Especially considering that it is undoubtedly going to take some time for the Oline to gel and the defense to get comfortable in the new scheme.

I would feel a lot better about this game if it were in November and those units had some games under their belts, but as is this is a tough match up for us early in the season.

Don't lower the expectations. The great Jason Garrett is our coach.

If Garretts as good as everyone says he is than we should be ready to go week 1 with the stable we have.

Weird to see a post where Galian Beast doesn't know what he's talking about.

I. Can't. Wait. for. this. game. Not only is it the start of the football season, but it's against a great defense on Sunday night in NY. And it's a measuring stick for us. We're going to run into a buzz saw right away, and then get to see how this MacGyvered team handles it. I expect our offense to play well and to struggle for points against a very good defense. I have no idea what to expect from our defense against a mediocre QB and a good running game.

As always, team that turns the ball over the least, wins. I hope it's us. If I"m putting money on the game, I think it's probably going to be them.

This post sounds very misinformed.
Just sayin'.

Would I pick against us....NO. In fact I can't believe some used this game in that pick winner and losers game to pick us to lose--when there were so many other easier picks out there.

But, I repeat, nobody would say we should win this game.

I agree. But I also do not see this as a game we should lose. Last I checked we we're a 4 point dog. Not 14!

Some on here have this chalked up as a loss.

I won't bet against a road dog with the better QB.

What's going to happen will happen. None of us here know. Cowboys could lose or win by 20!

I do believe those who see this as a 10-17 point loss are miss evaluating a few critical elements in the match up.

1) Cowboys young OL. Concerns are waaaaay over blown. Is this a tough first game draw for this OL? Absolutely! And we'll take our lumps Sunday night.
But I'm confident we made changes for the better and our OL will surprise this year.

2) Over rating the Jets defense. This isn't the 85 Bears or 2000 Ravens here. They're better than good, but far from great. They gave up points to the the better offenses in 2010.
The success of this defense comes as much or more from scheme and creating confusion for the opposition as it does with talent. And Garrett, Romo and the offense as a whole has spent the summer dealing with a similar helter skelter scheme.

3) Under estimating our own defense. 2010 is well documented. But I'm sure all here would agree with one simple concept......It's much easier to have numbers and results skewed to the negative than the positive. When things go bad it's easy to get sucked into that downward spiral. Our 2010 ranking was far more inflated than our 2009 ranking. You can't fake, skew or discount our 2009 results. They are much more indicitive of the talent we're going to field Sunday Night.
Add to that talent a DC such as Ryan and I believe a rebound is not just likely, it's nearly a certainty.

4) Sanchez is an average NFL QB. To be fair, I'm as concerned about our defense learning Ryan playbook early on the fly as I am bullish long term. But Sanchez is a good draw for us. He's got a great arm and natural ability, but he's far from prolific. His numbers don't lie. Especially when you consider the support he's recieved from his OL, running game and defense.
We're going to mix up everything on him. Zone, man, send two guys one play and six the next. He'll have a ton to process and Ware breathing down his back while he does it.

Yeah, I figured. I just used "presser" because the OP did, it's all about respectin' the OP. Anyway, thanks for the link -- this is the one I was clicking on in the wee hours of the morning but it wasn't working...at least, not on my iPad. Guessing it's a Flash thing (although other links were working fine).

I think Mr. Jobs needs to come to terms with this whole stubborn refusal to accept Flash on his machines. It....irritates me. :D

Jet's aren't good at defending the passes to the flats and the TE. Witten and Felix/Murray could have a huge game.

Meh. The last time this defense was on the field - with almost the exact same personnel - they were awful. Not just mediocre, historically awful.

I know what they did in 2009, but they are going to have to prove it on the field that they are closer to that performance than 2010. Throw in that this is a traditionally slow group mentally learning a massively complicated new defense and I fail to see how anyone is underestimating anything.

Obviously we'll see what happens on the field this year, but if pre-season is any indication I think things are going to be rocky on that side of the ball to start the year.

Garrett doesn't coach the defense. I have faith in Ryan, but let's deal in reality here...

He didn't have a typical offseason to implement his defense.

His starting CB's (not great ones to begin with) are both hobbled.

We looked pretty bad against the run in the preseason (and the Jets have a good rushing attack).

On the offensive side:

We have 3 new starters on the OL (including 2 rookies and a 2nd year guy) facing a pretty solid defense that excels at confusing opposing offenses.

Plus...

We'll be in New York on the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 in front of a charged up, half-drunk sunday night crowd.

We don't cover the flats very well either so this it cancelled out.

Santonio Holmes, and Plaxico Burress is nothing to sneeze at for the Jets and they both won SBs too.

The Jets offense is pretty good also and don't forget they have a really good TE in Dustin Keller too who is very good down the seam and he will be a matchup problem for us Sunday.

How should this be a game we should win? Were lucky if its even close. 3 new O-linemen starting their first game on the road on Sunday night primetime TV. On 9-11 in NY against one of the better Defenses in the NFL. The crowd will be crazy.

Not to mention our starting corners didnt play all Preseason. Our D looks bad right now learning a new system on the fly.

This game has all the makings of getting ugly early. I just hope Romo makes it out alive.

If you think this is a game we should win you are in for a disappointing season & night.
I wouldn't say this game is going to be easy by any stretch for the team but also know that they will not lay down for the Jets on Sunday night.

The Cowboys can win this game if they don't beat themselves with penalties and most importantly turnovers but based on your post if you honestly believe that they will get folded like a cheap tent by the Jets, then don't bother to watch the game or any of the games this season.

Good post Sunny and you're very levelheaded about the team but sadly your post will go on deaf ears to some fans.

Darelle Revis is a good corner and is a top 5 talent so if I'm Garrett going into the Meadowlands on Sunday and Revis will be covering Austin so I would treat Revis like he's the best and would have Tony take a few shots at him just to let him know early I respect your talent as a player but I don't fear you.
