Here are the 2008 Rookie RB final regular season stats. I'll post them like the NFL does--by rushing stats.....but there is more to it.

Name..........RuAtt/RuYrd/RuTD........Rec/ReYrd/RecTd

C Johnson.......251/1228/9..............43/260/1
S Slaton.........248/1190/8..............35/341/1
M Forte..........303/1188/8..............60/452/4
K Smith..........210/884/7...............36/279/0
J Stewart.......167/780/9................8/47/0
D McFadden....112/497/4...............27/275/0
R Rice............107/454/0...............33/272/0
T Choice.........79/416/2................20/177/0
T Hightower....140/396/10..............34/237/0
J Charles..........64/348/0................27/272/1
B Green-Ellis.....74/275/5.................3/37/0
F Jones............30/266/3.................2/10/0.....ir
R Mendenhall.....19/58/0..................2/17/0....ir
-------------------------
some notes:
* CJ was soundly vindicated---while leading all rookies in rushing and being selected to the Pro Bowl
* Forte edged out Slaton and CJ in the combined rushing/receiving yards. All three appear to have been great picks.
* CJ and Slaton were VERY similar statistically....and were the top yards per carry guys of all backs getting over 500 yards
* Both Choice and Felix looked good when given their shots.
* Here's a quirky stat...R Rice did not score a TD ALL SEASON. Otherwise he was ok when given a shot.
* JMO, McFadden will be very good, but Oakland did not use that pick wisely with all of their other needs. Again...JMO.
* GREAT ROOKIE CLASS!
* Both Forte and Johnson have already topped 1000 yards rushing/receiving...expect K Smith and Slaton to get there soon too.
* After all of this, I still say Matt Ryan wins the ORY easily.

8.8 ypa for Felix, 5.2 for Choice. Only 3.7 for Barber, but I can't wait for next season.

Thanks for the info. I've appreciated your work all season. I'm most impressed with Slaton who had very few supporters going into the draft. Kudos to him and Houston. The whole Reggie Bush episode should be laid to rest now.

Thanks.

I agree on the Reggie Bush episode. They now essentially have a Pro Bowl-level DE in Mario Williams and a RB that may end up as good or better than Bush. No doubt, the Houston front office is due a few appologies...but some have long been fired.

Kind of makes you wonder what Choice would have done as a feature.

Or at least utilized before it became an absolute necessity.

If he averaged 8 carries per game and 4.8 ypc (Choice's actual ypc on the season was 5.26) he would have had 614 yards, good for 6th on the list. Not bad for a 4th rounder who, apparently according to Garrett, wasn't good enough to play until his hand was forced.

That was the ESPN hype machine working overtime on Reggie.
