That's going a little overboard Williams was a very good player for several years but never reached an elite level. His fall was sudden but not nearly as dramatic or sudden as the fall of Shaun Alexander. Alexander rushed for a league high 1880 yards in 2005 and was named the league MVP. He was coming off a 1696 yard season in 04 and a 1435 yard season in 03. He was hands down the best back in football and completely fell of the cliff starting in 06 where he rushed for only 896 yards and his rushing average dropped from 5.1 in 05 to 3.6. In 07 he rushed for only 716 yards and averaged 3.5 per carry. He was so bad the Seahawks released him after the 07 season and the one season he spent in Washington he only rushed for 24 yards averaging 2.2 a carry. His fall from grace was like no other NFL player I can remember.

What's so interesting is that had we not trade two No. 1's for Joey Galloway, Shaun Alexander would likely have been a Cowboy. We needed a running back desperately, but Jerry Jones thought we were a receiver away from another Super Bowl.

That an

That and Darren Woodson or lack of. RW31 was riding Darren's coat tails

I've heard many say Woodson's retirement hurt RW31 but Woody retired after Williams rookie season in 02. His decline didn't start until after the 06 season. The Cowboys had nothing opposite Newman at corner and the Cowboys began to really struggle in the secondary forcing Williams to have to play in coverage more which was his weakness. He got exposed and completely lost his confidence. He became a huge liability in coverage and his tackling technique of horse collaring ball carriers due to repeatedly trailing plays created a RW31 rule that further affected his game. By the end of his stay with the Cowboys he was whiffing on tackles and couldn't cover.

Very true Alexander likely would have been a Cowboy had it not been for the Galloway trade. Had Jerry selected Randy Moss in 98 there would have been no Galloway trade but that's been beaten through the years here. I don't believe Jerry thought the Cowboys were a receiver away from a SB but he believed like many that Aikman needed a weapon. Irvin was for forced to retire a year prior and with no Novacek the Cowboys had nothing at receiver. I had no problem with the Galloway trade at the time but what I did have a problem with was the price of two #1's which was one too many.

Galloway and Aikman only ended up playing one game together and had Aikman not had to retire that trade may have worked out better. The Cowboys went through several QB's including Quincy Carter none of which could get the ball down the field to Galloway who was a deep threat. Despite the Cowboys awful QB situation Galloway did have a few good games but ultimately the Cowboys QB situation caused that trade to go bust.

Then we traded a third-round pick for James McKnight, a player Seattle was going to cut anyway. :banghead:

It was almost pathetic how Jerry Jones thought he could wheel and deal like Jimmy Johnson. He got taken to the cleaners, and his draft day trades were just a bunch of action without substance.

I'm glad he's changed. Whew!

In my opinion, Roy fell off for a couple reasons. A big one was that he gained weight to play more in the box and lost the speed and ability to run downfield that he started with. Then, he was left just as a big hitter. But the NFL started cracking down on that, and at the same time he found religion. He admitted that his religion made him lose the drive to just go out and hit people hard.

Kelly is a good looking woman.

You know she doesn't do much for me. I'm not saying she's ugly but I wonder if she ever would have been a celebrity without the help of Beyonce. O yeah, I think Roy Williams 31 got a little to happy being famous and somewhere along the way he got unhappy with football. Sucks cuz he was a monster for a couple years.

I've been around her several times..... she's a good looking woman (In my very strong opinion:D). Personally when they were both in front of me (her and beyonce), I saw natural beauty, and pretty skin, versus a lot of makeup.... although I do thing B is an attractive woman as well.

It was a confluence of many factors.

He said the 3-4 defense didn't fit his skill set.
Religion.
Hollywood type GF.
Big money caused loss of motivation.
Parcells probably burned out some players from football.
His violent style was probably not going to result in a long career.
Darren Woodson retiring.
Maybe some loss of confidence.
Probably got to fat.

He made a comment at one point something like he woke up one day and didn't feel like hitting people anymore.

Sometimes people just don't want to play anymore. I think that's really all there is to it.

Exposed into having... a nine year career?

By any reasonable expectation, his career was a smashing success and he probably wouldn't even fall very far in a re-draft.
