Roy Williams recently had a discussion with owner Jerry Jones and he is fully committed to helping make the Cowboys a successful team in '08 despite criticism from many of his teammates this off-season, according to the Star Telegram. "I don’t plan on playing for another team. I plan to retire as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. I even talked to Jerry about it. He said don’t even worry about it. He said I am not worried about you performing on the football field."

Our View: Williams has been criticized for a declining skill set that has led some to view him as a liability in the passing game. It's good to hear that Williams is committed to the upcoming season, it's now just a matter of how his skills are utilized that will determine his value.

Do any opf you remember right before the draft that brought Roy, he made a statement that he only wanted to play for five years?

It seemed at that time like he wasn't as motivated to play in the league for a long time.

Are we seeing this come to the fore now in his play?

Due to a renewed sense of " higher purpose " (and more $$$$$ than he will ever need), Roy Williams has retired. In doing so, he agreed to restructure his contract by giving up the remaining 4 years in place of a buffet enhanced 1 day contract. Good luck Roy. Tight Ends everywhere will miss you!

:lmao:

Actually. I also am puling for Roy this year. I hope he finds his old self and brings the pain.

So the owner is telling Roy to not worry about it. I don't understand why he would say that....it is probably best that Roy worry and put in the effort to get better. People are being critical for a reason, and to simply dismiss this is a really bad thing.:(

And Wade Phillips telling Ellis he will be the starter before camp is also stupid. I don't understand why management bends over backwards for this guy when the young #1 behind him will be a better player. Ellis is a situational player and should not be treated as a diva.:(

Don't laugh - if it ever happened - it would not surprise me in the least mainly because I question the guys desire. He got what he wanted ($), let's see how this season pans out.
