He just needs to work on that route running and quit rounding off the routes. If he can do that, which I'm sure he can (foot was bothering him much of last year), he can flourish. Still not comfortable w/ the #2 though, but I'd much rather see Austin there and keep Crayton at 3.

Austin hasn't done enough for me to feel confident about him Crayton being ok as a #2 probably had more to do with Who our #1 was, we're in really bad shape at WR right now

We are worse offensively for losing TO.

That much is certain.

But don't act like Miles Austin doesn't have a chance of being a dang good receiver.

He is a Human Bullet.

More like Plaxico than Keyshawn.

Plaxico is an impact player, Roy just racked up garbage stats in a pass heavy offense that always played from behind.

So we may think we know what we're going to get from him, but he has yet to play a full season under the pressure of Dallas. His 10 games last year was possibly just an aberration, but I'll remain in the minority that think he isn't quite as good we think/hope he is.

Never said he didn't have a chance, i just don't like our depth right now and really don't like the idea of going into the season with him as our #2 when all we have seen from him as a handful of catches

Thats fine but I would imagine i've seen the guy play a lot more than most on this board and I know what his capabilities are more than most.

Keyshawn and Roy is just not a good comparison. Keyshawn is the all time possesion receiver and nothing else. No threat down field what so ever.

Roy has made plenty of plays down field in his career.

Hes not going to blow by anyone but he sure as heck isn't slow either.

He is an amazing athlete and I think the team has put a ton of pressure on him to get in the best shape of his life and with TO being released the pressure just got raised higher.

Im excited to have a dedicated Roy Williams. He can do big things in this offense.

I just wish we wouldve kept TO and not had to of paid him 9 mill a year to play on someone elses team.

I don't think we can replace TO's production with 1 guy, but if we can pick up another decent number 3 or 4 wideout in FA, and if Austin continues to develop, along with Bennett, we should be able to make up that production.

A lot of things have to go our way for that to happen, i don't see everyone of those panning out that's just not the way these things go

We still have a lot more playmakers than most teams but im not confident in Garretts ability to utilize this talent.

I mean he managed to make TO 1 demensional and nothing but a deep route runner.

I am and have been excited about Miles Austin and I think he will shine when given this opportunity but I would've kept TO instead of paying him 9 mill to play for someone else.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cowboys made a run for Torry Holt, who will probably be released in the next few days. Especially given his history and familiarity in this particular offense. Plus I imagine there are going to be a whole lot of butthurt fans over this, so I can see Jerry signing someone with a familiar name to the casual fan to soothe the wounds.

How does everyone feel about that? I personally think it is great. He's just as big as TO. Just as fast as TO. He has better hands than TO (less dropped balls). And he is many years younger than TO. Coming into training camp he will get all of the reps TO used to get so come opening game he will be fully acclimated with Romo. We still feature big-time weapons in Witten, Felix Jones, the Barbarian, and (hopefully) Miles Austin - so there won't be "too" much pressure on RW to produce. With those types of players surrounding him he'll be free to do what he has done in the past. So I'm putting out there right now: Roy will have a Pro-Bowl year and Dallas will shock the world.

Who's with me? :flagwave:

I'll take 75 catches, 1200 yards, 10 TDs... anything else will be gravy... :D

might as well not bother if we're going to replace 1 aging WR with an aging WR with bad knees and paying for both

Roy W is plenty good to be a #1 WR.

And I hate that term anyway. Who cares about #1, #2, #3, whatever. If we win more, who cares if our "#1 WR" has 500 yards on the year. WRs are the most overrated position in football. A good QB can and will win without so-called superstar WRs.

In this case we would be replacing an aging WR certifiable nutjob who thinks he's not getting enough targets with merely 17 a game with with an aging WR non-nutjob who might be more likely to accept the reality of his role at this stage in his career.

Jason Witten is the #1A WR. Roy Williams is the #1B WR. And the Cowboys philosophy will be depending much more on their stable of RBs than the the chuck n duck offense they trotted out there last year to appease certain egomaniacs and certifiable nutjobs.

The Boys will run the ball 50-75 more times next year, would be my guess, but Tony will still throw the ball over 500 times (assuming he starts 16 games, obviously)... which means 300-325 completions, and if the offense is functioning the way it should, Witten and Roy ought to account for at least 150 of them...

The Boys were about 60-40 pass to run last year, I'm guessing they'll be a little closer to 50-50 this year, but still tilt slightly to the pass...

And their offense will probably be more efficient for it...

QB's that can win with so so WRs are few and far between i don't think Romo is one of those QBs

Unless you have Brady and a good O line WR is anything but overrated

Holts role would be to sit on IR most of the season, he'd just be a panic solution to a problem we didn't need to have and made our selves.
If we're going to created this big hole on offense then patch it up with Holt what was the point in doing it in the first place?

Getting a certifiable nutjob who was dividing the team out of the lockerroom?

Why is it so hard to comprehend that getting rid of TO goes way beyond stats?
