One more thing from practice: Roy Williams was wearing the number he donned as an Oklahoma Sooner -- 38. I guess the hope there is that he starts playing like he did as a collegian.
Or, at least, that has to be what the Cowboys are hoping after a tough regular season for 31.

He needs his confidence back. I think thats all he is lacking.

The way he gets hammered for every screw up by fans (including myself), and media when he makes a mistake has taken a toll on him.

I wish it could be permanent... But doesn't OU play tonight? I bet that's the reason.

I remember that thread...made me laugh (i'm an anti-roy guy), but if it makes him play like the Roy of old...then darn it, get him that #38 jersey! I feel the fires burning inside...Is Roy back??? PLEASE!!!?!?

#38 is NFL-speak for PAIN!

Some All Pro named Lynn Scott had the number at the time.

Maybe he can get back to that form. I for 1 have his 31 jersey, but it would be cool to see him in 38 come game time:)

That was my first thought as well, the eight doesn't stand out in a crowd.

You guys have really missed the boat. He is donning his collegian No. 31 so he can horse-collar again and the refs nor the league will know it is him. Guys, you idiots, you....

Hawthorne had it in 2001,Lynn Scott in 2002.

Actually Hawthorne wore it in 2002, he played in 11 games for Dallas that year before being waived and picked up by the 49ers. Lynn Scott wore #21 in 2001 and 2002, and changed to 38 at the start of 2003, when Derek Ross and Terence Newman both wanted 21, but Ross got it cause he had a year over Newman in the league.

Right...Ross wore #20 in 2002, cause Scott had #21......in 2003, Scott went to 38, Ross went to 21. Richie Anderson got 20.

Is he wearing it just for practice or will his game jersey bear the number "38"?
