Roy Williams-WR- Cowboys Jan. 21 - 2:47 pm et

Though he admitted Roy Williams' contract is a "major consideration," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones reiterated his belief that the underachieving receiver has elite NFL talent.

Coach Wade Phillips backed his owner, blaming himself for not finding a way to help Williams play better "within the whole scheme." Due to make $12.95M in 2010, Williams is no more than a bit part in the Cowboys offense. Williams remains a near-lock to return, but the drumbeat is beginning in Dallas for his release.

There were a bunch of drums beating for Wade to be gone as well and he's here for another year.Roy isn't going anywhere but I expect that he is going to have to show up next year with a chip on his shoulder or it will most likely be his last in Dallas.

For those with a better understanding of NFL Salaries then myself, generally, what type of player makes $12.95M in a Season?

I'm trying to get a better perspective as to how much this guy is overpaid.

There goes Wade again blaming HIMSELF more than blaming Roy for his lackluster season. I know Wade isn't going to call Roy out; that would be wrong, but he didn't have to say "I'm more disappointed in myself than Roy..." Put some of the accountability on your players, because if you put it on you, the players will become complacent and unmotivated.

actually considering how little wade has to do with the O that question should be asked of Garrett.

Then why hasnt he shown it in six years?

Coach Wade Phillips backed his owner, blaming himself for not finding a way to help Williams play better "within the whole scheme."

Wade cant get open or catch the ball for him. He is falling on the sword for Jerry's horrible trade.

The coach should take upon themselves he is the coach it is his responsibility to get the most out of a player. That has not happened with RW so it is up to the coaches to find a way to get him to perform. They know he can from what they have seen in practice but they have to find a way to get him to produce when it matters.

i think the main thing with practices with roy, are the players in pads and hitting roy when he is about to make a catch? Anyone can make miracle catches when no one is going to hit them etc. Thats the key to me, the cowboys players must put pressure on roy w in practices and make him make those catches.

I don't think he is scared guys who are scared do not play the game, RW has taken big hits throughout his days of playing football. I think right now RW is pressing to prove himself, not sure other than repetitive work of how to get over that but I do think he has the talent. Whatever the issue is, the ball is in his court and somehow the coaches have to find away to push him through this.
