Does anyone out there still think he isn't a liability in coverage? Whoever coachs next year needs to make him lose 15 lbs. A safety should not play at 235 period. It's amazing that his cover skill were so much better as a rookie. Dallas is stuck with him because of that huge contract, but Roy needs to start hitting the treadmill and now. He has plenty of time to lose weight. I would rather have him be able to make up some ground in coverage than hit like a linebacker. This isn't a Roy Williams sucks thread, but he needs to lose weight.

He can't even tackle. What's a move to LB going to do? How many times do we need to see a Cowboy streak across the screen only to miss the tackle and find out it was Roy Williams yet again?

He really does need to lose weight. Its beyond pitiful. If he can come back at 225 he would be so much quicker and he could still bring the wood. I'd like to know the reason behind him staying at this weight. Does his body prevent him from dropping the weight?

And if he doesn't lost the weight he needs to play more Nickle LB at least. Ala Darren Woodson back in the day. I'd rather see Roy man that spot instead of freakin Bradie James.

Either one is fine, but he cannot play at this tweener S/LBer weight. I would rather see him lose weight since Dallas has plenty of talent at linebacker with Ware, Adoyele, Carpenter, and Burnett. Roy once looked like the next Ronnie Lot at 220 why not make him play at his best weight?

I said that 2 years ago, but I said 7 pds. Either that or gain 5 pds and move over to OLB with Carp on the other side in a 4-3.

Still say he is doing a decent job. Heck he had an int tonight, I agree he should have been there to stop that TD but he is alot better than most.

I've had it with Roy

he's still giving up the big plays and he's no longer making any on his own to counter this...

I say, get a D-coord who can use him like he should be used, or trade him now, while we can get something good out of the deal

Becoming? I probably shouldn't be making this public but I'm so mad right now I don't give a ****. I talked to a Saints offensive coach last week and he said they specifically designed a number of plays to exploit Williams and if you watch tape of the Cowboys games, many of their opponents are doing the same thing. The homers on here can defend him all they want but teams are going after him plain and simple instead of fearing him, which they should be doing. This guy is suppoed to be one of the NFL's best like Dawkins and Reed and he's not even close. One player told me he spends more time partying with Puff Daddy and Jay-Z than he does worrying about football. What do you think his 40-time is right now? 5.8? He is now just a shadow of his former self and to be honest, I don't think he cares. As long as he's on Cribs and gets invited to the Playboy Mansion, Roy's cool.

The problem is two-fold. With no pass rush Roy looks horrible and has to play out of place. He looked alot better at the beginning of the year when we were getting a consistent pass rush before Ellis was hurt. So....if he doesn't lose the weight and he's back there again next year (most likely outcome) JJ better find some more people who want to get to the QB as much as Ellis and Ware do.

He shouldn't be in coverage as much as he is. But he is because they need him there more. They don't have another player that can cover the field as good as he can. Dallas' problem is they don't have a LB that can cover a TE and they don't have a FS that is experienced and can take way some receivers and they have no pass rush outside of Ware.

Newman caused that INT. Roy was just standing there doing nothing like usual and the ball fell into his fat ***. Seriously, how many sacks does he get? How many missed tackles does he have every week? How many interceptions does he have where he jumps a route instead of having the ball thrown right to him? I want to know. I've seen every Cowboys game since DirecTV came out in 1994 and the people who say Williams is great, answer those questions above. This guy has been getting a free ride and living off his college career for way too long now.

I have to disagree with you. Yes, the pass rush was bad, but safeties need to be able to cover period. If Roy doesn't want to be exposed covering receivers, he should be playing linebacker not safety. If he wants to continue playing safety he must drop weight.

To be honest, it's not about losing 15 pounds. He takes bad angles on every play. If he loses 15 pounds he'll just take terrible angles quicker.

You tell me what SS can cover anyone back there, standing 15 yards away from the LOS with a WR or TE running full speed at them every play with the QB waiting patiently for the play to develop. There aren't many. Heck the Cowboys haven't had one since Woodson. The problem is bigger than Roy.

I'd love to see Roy never give up any plays. But there are probably a bunch times he has great coverage on his man but we NEVER see it because the QB looks elsewhere.
